Im kind of surprised he is so early considering UNI, SDSU and buffalo all have offers also, the article below makes it sound like it's his first and only choice, anyone know if he has family ties to nDSU?
Tough to lose instate kid with that kind of talent. Brought back memories seeing Arrows playing on the multi-use field. You would think at some point in a community that size you would have dedicated football and baseball fields.

I'm sure JD can corroborate this, but inside the Watertown School District, "The Stadium" is very much revered.

I know nothing about him. I'm just sick of losing SD kids to NDSU. State gets their ass kicked on the field against them enough.
I share your frustration but Waege is only one person. Maybe one too many. Especially two years from now he picks off our QB and scores the winning TD at Dykhouse.

I'd agree.
On losing Watertown's Waege to NDSU: Since our coaches made an offer to Waege, I have to assume he had the potential to make it in the MVFC. NDSU recruiting him confirms that. But while he was a good high school player, I think he may be in the category of a "project" with good potential but no guarantee. The kid worked hard etc....will be interesting to see how well he develops. A few Watertown grads go to NDSU every year as students and sometimes student athletes (usually track and field). I can't recall the last time Watertown had a football player go to NDSU (last one I can think of played for the Bison 1973-1976 but surely there has to have been some since then).
I think it's important SDSU tries its darndest to land good recruits out of Watertown but it seems lately there haven't been many D1 athletes coming out of Watertown and when they do, SDSU usually signs them (remember Fjeldheim? Berry? And most recently, Schuster?). I think this season's football roster won't have a single Watertown player on it...but, that's not the end of the world.
Watertown had maybe one other player who could play D1 football, Nate Davis. Davis is an outstanding high school athlete -- he may not have the size or speed necessary for D1 football yet an argument could be made that his intelligence would make up for any physical shortcomings. But, Davis wants to play basketball and is going to DWU (don't want to take this thread off topic but DWU is doing quite well in basketball recruiting this year).
