Same writer notes it here too; sounds like track could be an option with multiple Big 10 schools purportedly interested in Carlson for that.

Go get Hawk Wimmer, DT, Franklin, WI. Ready to play defensive tackle and a need for the Jacks.

I would suggest you contact the staff. as I'm pretty sure they don't read this forum.

Have you seen him play? Just curious what your reasoning is. I see he has picked up some offers from Indiana St and Western Illinois as of late. We already have 3, maybe more DTs that have already verballed.

I talked with Ben Dinkel, our punter commit from Kearney, NE Saturday night. He is thrilled to be coming to Brookings next year. I asked him about Noah and he is unsure of his status. He hasn't given up, but he recognizes that you don't often get opportunities like Cincinnati every day. We talked about the quality of level in the MVFC and that you can still get opportunities to play on Sundays by being a Jackrabbit.

A month ago I ran into Noah's dad at Walmart and he asked a lot of questions about Brookings and he seemed very excited to be having Noah play for the Rabbits. I'm very careful on how I talk to recruits and their parents as we don't want NCAA violations. However, I've seen growing interest in SDSU athletics when I wear my Jackrabbit apparel around town. That is what prompted conversations from both Ben Dinkel and Noah Urbanek's dad.

I read some Husker report that mentioned Urbanek last Friday. Said he is still committed to the Jacks and intends to be. Who knows where that dude got his info. It didn't say.
"All I know is what I read on the message boards."
"Oh, well, there's your problem, then."

Not that it likely matters too much, but Sagarin has us rated as the 80th best college football team and Cincinnati as the 117th after finishing 4-8. They have a new coach this spring, Luke Fickell, who was previously the DC for Ohio State.

I guess one selling point with SDSU is that you can be fairly certain that Coach Stig is going to be your head coach for the next 4-5 years and that the team is going to be competitive in the FCS, where as it's anyone's guess with Cincinnati.

Was he recruited by Fickell or the previous coaching staff?

Assuming Fickell since he just reported the offer.

Looks like he played as a freshman in 2014, redshirted in 2015 and did not play at all in 2016. Wonder if he had injury problems that kept him out two years. If so, could he get a waiver to be eligible right away ?

FBS school down to FCS. So would be eligible right away.

I'm hoping that Jake will have some influence over Shae Wyatt, a teammate of his. I've only seen Shae's HUDL football clips, but have seen him play basketball in person and was very impressed. The kid is physical, knows the game and when he decides to take over he is a beast. He's the biggest reason their basketball team is the highest ranked team in Nebraska. I wonder if he is more interested in basketball as at the high school level that is where he is most dominant. However, I don't know if he has the ability to play higher than a D2 level in that sport.
