  • Missouri Football Facts and Welcome to Columbia, Mo

I know this is late but it has taken me several days to get approved for your site. Just wanted to answer a few questions you all had about Mizzou.

Best Mizzou Forum is the Tigers Lair at Missouri Rivals.com you can read it without signing up but cannot post. 2nd. best site is STLTODAY Mizzou talk on the Missouri blog.

    Defense:

One of the top overall defenses in D1 football last year lost several very strong players in Dends, Kony Ealy, and Michael Sam. Middle LB Andrew Wilson and all SEC corner E.J. Gaines along with the other starting corner and one safety.

What this will mean to you is absolutely nothing. Missouri is just simply loaded on defense. Coach Gary Pinkel says this is the biggest fastest most athletic defense he has coached at any level or school he has ever been, including last years Missouri team.

Even though Mizzou lost players to graduation and the NFL, this defense has tons of experience as coach Pinkel rotates his players at an amazing rate. Most, every defensive player that will be on the field tomorrow has experience from last year. The two Dend's are Shane Ray and Markus Golden and they are, to put it simply Animals. They are like mad dogs going for a poodle. They played just about as much as our two all SEC Dends did last year and they with their big redshirt freshman backups will just keep commin.

The interior of the Dline is huge and deep as the entire Mizzou front. They will play 8 deep and rotate continually.

The LBer's are all pretty young, but big and fast averaging 6'3" 245 pounds.

The Corner backs are both about 6' 200 but both played a lot last year and both started some games Aaron Pention will be all SEC. The safties are big run stoppers but can also cover. This big Dline and the backers will for sure test Mr. Zenner and your O-line.

Another note on this defense, is they want to outscore the offense. They are always one of the best at taking the ball away. Those Dends do not want to sack the QB, they want to hammer him and strip him of the ball. They are always chopping at the ball. Someone to watch is a redshirt sophomore that will play as much as anyone. He will not start but he is a complete FREAK. His name is Harold Brantley. No foolin he is one of the fastest guys on the team and he is 6'3" 290. Mizzou ran him on offense some last year. He was a QB in high school and he is a complete load, playing both Dend and interior on the Dline. Get on the Mizzou Hype on YouTube and watch this cat carry the ball. It is SCARY.

Offense: Mizzou lost two tackles, Justin Britt is starting as a Rookie for the Seahawks and of course 1000 yrd. RB Henry Josey. Biggest lost was 3 Big receivers, but the good news for the tigers is that they replaced those two lineman with lots of experience. This starting line has more total starts per man than any O-line Coach Pinkel has had at Mizzou. Average 6'5 316 pounds and is easy 2 deep.

Hansbourgh and Murphy are the RB tandem and they are good. Probably not as good as your guy, but big time, and the players around them are all good, with that huge SEC line to open up holes. Neither back will come down with an arm tackle and really one guy has a hard time putting them down. You got to have multiple hats on them.

Receivers are redshirt seniors and the book is open on them. of course you all know our OB as everyone in the country does. He is a gunslinger and a runner. He loves to throw the ball over the top and to run.

Going to be hot and Mizzou will play just a ton of people, probably 4 different backs, 8 receivers, 6 corners and 8 different D lineman.

Good Luck all, and have a great season.

LB's 6"3 ,245 and fast.Behind a large Defensiv line seems like a very daunting task.Welcome to top 25 FBS roster's.Hope we can dent some of the optomism the Mizzou folks seem to have in their defense.Hope we are up for the challenge,it will be a long day for our guys if we have to pass every down.

I think we'll know fairly early whether the game will be competitive or not. Last year at Nebraska I could tell the Jacks D wasn't up to the task of slowing down the Husker offense, so even though we ended the first quarter with the lead, I didn't feel good about our chances.

Obvously, the Jacks should just forfeit right now with all the FREAKS and SCARIES and Animals and loads and loadeds and gunslingers and mad dogs and tons of people you got.

        Go Jacks.

Yep. Might as well watch Mizzu scrimmage themselves. No point in even paying for the travel. Just shouldve sent our jerseys for one side to wear.

Thanks for the info. I will watch for the players you highlighted. It will be a tough row to hoe for the Jacks.
