Isaac Latterell (R, Lincoln)
Stace Nelson (R., Bon Homme, Douglas, Hanson, Hutchinson, McCook, and a small planet with a methane atmosphere orbiting Alpha Centauri B )
Lance Russell (R., Custer, Fall River, Pennington)
Blaine Campbell (R., Pennington)
Don Kopp (R., Pennington)

Re: New SDSU Football Stadium Site Plan
Hearing rumors of aluminum structure rather than prefab concrete as a cost concession to get the premium seating right. I suppose it makes sense to go all out on the premium seating. It will be paying the bills after all. However, an aluminum stadium seems something less than what we've all been waiting for. And although I'm not an engineer, I would imagine the lifespan of an aluminum structure is something less than pre-fab concrete and seems cheap. I suggested some time ago that perhaps we were over-building this thing (seating capacity-wise). If it is true that this will be an aluminum structure, I would reiterate my suggestion. I would much rather see the entire facility built correctly with a smaller, more realistic seating capacity and room for expansion when lasting success, and more importantly, loyal fan support, is achieved. A 16,500 seat stadium would be more than adequate based on current demand (approximately one 16,000 attendance gate every 2 years) with more than enough room in the open end zones to accommodate 18,000 or 19,000 standing room only crowds if the demand is actually there.
On the other hand, perhaps the students can get on board in doing their part. Drink for Dykhouse Stadium. Save all the cans for recycling into the the stadium structure.

Re: New SDSU Football Stadium Site Plan
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but did the recent season ticket information that was mailed include quite a price hike as well? The cost of the tickets didn't increase by much (appx $140/ticket vs $115 now, I don't have the brochure in front of me), but the price in donation changed from per order to per seat? Is that right?
If I recall in the past, I could order four tickets in section D for my family, and pay the cost of tickets plus my $100 donation. Under the new plan, I would have to pay the price of tickets plus $200/seat for tickets in approximately the same area. The donation ranges from 300 to 50 based on where you sit, but changing to a per seat locale really bumps the price no matter where you sit. My tickets would go from about $590/year to $1360. Is that right?
I understand the new stadium is going to cost more, but that is a significant hike."I'd like to thank the good Lord for making me a Yankee." - Joe D.

Steel prices have risen in the last year or so, but aluminum is generally more expensive than steel so if they wanted to get away from pre-cast concrete they would likely use steel. On top of being more expensive, equivalent aluminum (compared to steel) sections would need to be bigger because of a lower modulus of elasticity (the main factor in deflection equations). Connections, and field modifications are also more difficult. The only thing I can think of that aluminum has going for it is weight.
I would think pre-cast concrete would be fairly competitive construction technique since Gage Brothers in Sioux Falls is only an hour down the road. Of course they could be to busy to take provide the pre-cast for that stadium too.
All that being said when done properly, aluminum structures can perform adequately.

Re: New SDSU Football Stadium Site Plan
I have been contemplating a couple of club seats. However, given my age and the fact that both of my kids currently live in the sunny south, I don't know if I dare make a five or seven year agreement starting in 2016. I have to seek clarification from SDSU to see if there is a buyout clause in the contract. Perhaps I will have to take my chances that club seats not taken in the five, seven, and ten year contracts will become available on an annual basis, most likely at a higher cost.Finding is never about seeking. Re: New SDSU Football Stadium Site Plan
Was considering Club Seats until I got the packet and found out about the other little details that go along with them, i.e., seat lease of 5, 7, or 10 years, which directly impacts price, plus a one-time donation for each seat of $750, plus maintaining Jackrabbit Club donation at present level, meaning that I'd have to maintain my current giving level. Just can't do all of it. My wife thinks we spend way too much on football each year any way with the exorbitant amounts spent on tailgating and traveling to away games that I can't justify it at this time. May be in 5 years.
I hope the AD doesn't have problems selling these seats, along with the loge boxes. I'm guessing a lot of them will be corporate buys rather than individuals. Who knows though."All I know is what I read on the message boards."

Re: New SDSU Football Stadium Site Plan
I think they are trying to get the hard core loyalists like me tied down for long term financial commitments. The Stadium for State group wanted long term commitments and it pissed a bunch of alums off nearly fifty years ago. Most of them are pushing up daisies now, we could end up another group feeling the same way. There really has not been any discussion about single tickets and maybe that might be premature. The more commitments that they can make the less the bond issue in terms of dollars, as I understand it. You might check with Christy Williams and try and get some answers there.
One thing I did learn from the LOI package is the Loge seating is still outside, and maybe a few more comforts but not much.
