I notice NDSU has a medium interest in him, but no offer to match the Jacks. I suppose NDSU is gearing in on all the hot shots from the Twin Cities to replace Olson and Williams to name two.

[QUOTE=mitchell;240801]Jacks also have an offer out to a safety from the Pheonix suburbs.

Oops missed that one. He would be a great get also, looks like he enjoys special teams as much as defense.

        Here are his hudl highlights:

GopherHole - you're missing two of our commitments on the previous page. We should have six now. Just FYI.

Thanks KU! I had looked at that better than a week ago on my iPad, but didn't get around to updating them and totally spaced them off. I do appreciate the updates and even the kick in the pants when I overlook something.

State offered another AZ product in 6'3 190lbs ATH JT Nettleton from Saguaro HS in Scottsdale, AZ.

I think he could make for a nice lengthy and explosive safety.

We have two safeties in our backyard that can flat out play! What is SDSU's issue with not recruiting Iowa. I watched 6'3 210 safety/QB/LB Andrew Van Ginkel(Rock Valley) have 5 dunks tonight in a bb game. The kid is a freak athlete yet I talked to a coach tonight SDSU has shown little or no interest. Same high school as Heemstra and Dykstra!! The kid had over 1,500 rushing and 1,500 passing yds, 7 INT's and 150 tackles and everyone was keying on him as they didn't have a lot of options around him.

                    http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1172836/

Brandon Snyder, West Lyon - Led his team to a 14-0 season and they dominated every one of their opponents. 6'1" 195 Safety/QB. Talked to one of his coaches and said he is as hard working and competes as hard as anyone they have coached. I believe West Lyon has had 10 D1 football players in the last 15 years. 35+ vertical and plays faster than his 4.65 cuz he is so instinctive. 10 yds per carry. 3 Int's for Td's. Player of the year in his class.

I think our roster shows every year that we strongly recruit Iowa.

Do they have any interest or better yet any offers from other D-I schools? If they do they maybe we need to get after these guys. If they don't then at this stage in the recruiting cycle they likely aren't good enough to play at our level. Interest from other schools is a good indicator on if we are missing on a guy or not. I trust the skills of our coaching staff to find guys this close to home.

As NW Iowa native I can tell you that the relationships a HS has for summer camps influences later. Example -- Central Lyon George Little Rock heads to USD team camp yearly... No coincidence that Starr ends up there. I'd bet RV does also.

Side point - Gacke from UNI (2nd team MVC) also from CLGLR.

I can't speak for Van Ginkel, but State has been actively recruiting Snyder(whether its as a scholarship player or pwo, I don't know). Snyder has already been on campus for a visit, I don't remember what game, but if one were to look back in this thread they would find the game. Their was quite a bit of discussion about him and WL on here if I remember right.

Being a native of NW Iowa and a former Jack it boggles my mind that we don't recruit harder in our backyard. Gacke(UNI), Nate DeJong(NWMS), Tracy, are just a few names of guys that State has missed on. Tracy, I believe came after a coaching change took place at UNI??

I was told Van Ginkel and Snyder have officials coming at UNI and USD. Snyder has taken unofficials to Iowa and NDSU and has an official for NDSU in January. Sioux City Heelen has great fb. Can you name a single Jack that played at Heelen? They have a QB, player of the year, in Solsma. No SDSU offer there either. Set a state record for TD passes in a season playing a large school schedule. Baseball has the Jacobson brothers from Heelen and they are going to turn out just fine.

I get we have to recruit nationally especially for certain positions, but we need midwest talent. And Minnesota and Iowa have some exceptional players that we don't recruit. Let's face it kids from the south are hard to keep here after they experience a couple of SD winters.

I think our kids from the Arizona have excelled here and played exceptionally last weekend. So I think the kids from the South not sticking here doesn't fly. Look we all want local kids to play here. Are we going to miss on a few, yes. but I have had faith that our guys have found talent from all over that are performing. If they aren't recruiting them, there maybe a reason. Also, there are coaches that come and go that have connections to certain areas. I don't know if our staff has connections to NW Iowa right now. For a while there we couldn't pay a kid to come here from the Twin Cities, now we have Zenner, Gandy, Cam Jones and Schneider. These things go in cycles. When I played we had a ton of guys from NW Iowa.
