If they make it too nice, then why do we need a new stadium? If a fan can fly through the concessions and get back to my seat, then you will get a push from a group of fans that say CAS is good enough, and that we don't need a new stadium. Short term pain for long term gain. Get a new stadium, get the fans back with cushy new digs.

Seriously? I don't think this is good stradegy plan for a new stadium. I have to believe that SDSU is just as frustrated with the concession stand issues as fans are. Lost revenue at the concession stand is lost revenue for the athletic department as well.

Agree 100% with the last part of your post. Not that I disagree with the first part. But, if people do not have a positive experience they will not return unless they are simply avid Jacks / football fans. Everything is inclusive here from parking, tailgating, restrooms, concessions, seating, band and on and on!

This may have been the first home game this year but it was not the first game Aramark has serviced. It seems to me that we have football games every year! Just being sarcastic here. I'd like to say what I really think about Aramark but this is a family board.

That was the second time I can recall when I attended a college athletic event and did not buy concessions (the other time being the second Gophers game I attended at TCF Stadium...those people were making change out of cigar boxes for the first two seasons...I learned from my first experience at "the Bank" that there wasn't going to be a second time when I'd stand in line for concessions...two parties lost: I lost weight and the U of MN didn't get my $20).

Until we get all the parts figured out, going to a game at CAS won't be an "event" for everybody and that means we won't be averaging 16,000 per season. I'll always be there but we have to have an atmposphere that attracts the more casual fans.

No the new staduim has been on the drawing board for some time and the concessions are another matter. If it were up to me and I had millions, a wrecking ball would be working today. I witnessed the very first game at CAS in 1962 as a student and have looked at it as an unfinished project in that no permanent seating on the east side of the field. Saturday took the cake as far as I am concern fighting to get into seat 3 was a hassle, plus as I said in another post, if you dont have perfect balance, and up in the 17 or 18th row, you risk falling on your face and getting hurt bad time. The place is just unsafe imo. The concessions has had been said over and over was horribly planned. If I was President Chicoine, I would be thinking new vendor. The staduim will come in due time. You can bet Justin Sells is working on fund raising big time as well as the indoor facility.

Good thoughts, then if people want a change, they need to complian to the athletic department about the service. If Armark are not holding up to the service levels expected, there needs to be a change.

I don't even try to leave during halftime. We're on Row 22, so it takes too long to get out, let alone to stand in line to spend money. I like to watch the band, and I don't want to miss any of the third quarter. There's no excuse not to have tables/tents set up at multiple locations to at least sell the basic, non-perishable items.

              Re: CAS Concessions 2012

I didn't head down at halftime but I sent my daughter down for a soda. She came back fairly quickly. Sorry if she cut in front of someone.

CAS is a study in making the best in a less than ideal situation. That being said, to run out of WATER? That is pretty poor. As for the lines, if you go to any stadium/field in the country there are lines at halftime. It's just a bad time to go. In years past there had been numerous other carts and tables under the stadium selling snacks and bottled drinks. Were they not there? I had my share of liquids when I got there if you know what I mean.

Another idea would be to hire some kids to do concession in the aisle. They used to do that. Why not any more?

It was a beautiful day though! Plus, a Jacks W!

                Re: CAS Concessions 2012

Walmart/Hy-Vee and every other place in town that sells bottled water must have been sold-out too.

Seriously, how long would it have taken to run get a few cases of water?

Unless, of course, they are labeled "Not for individual sale". If that's the case then disregard the above.

Seriously, it's really really really embarrasing to run out of bottled water.

Nicks had another commitment that day and they were not selling their burgers, but I got some downtown before the game. Yes there were some stands selling pretzels and pop I believe. It just did not seem to be very organized or any quick serve to it. Running out of water is hard to believe, but appartently true.

Nicks was there and next to their trailer was a vendor (assuming Aramark) with a tub of iced drinks. Unfortunately no water their either but the young lady was working her tail off keeping up.

Just a thought if someone had actually been thinking on their feet: Cups+ice+water=charge $.50 They have to have running water in that concession stand, pretty sure that's against health code if they don't. It's not rocket surgery.......would have made people happy. I saw a kid drinking water from the bathroom sink(not even making that up). Everyone knows bottled water is just filtered trough water anyways........
With fans like this who needs enemas.....

Either there were lots of people drinking from the bathroom sink, or we were all in the bathroom at the same time... I saw this too. LOL.

A few years back with crowded restrooms, I saw some one whizzing in the sink right in front of HM Briggs. HM was not impressed and I dont recall him taking names, as he was retired by then. Drinking from the sink might be all that bad.
