    Re: UC Davis Aggies

Do I understand correctly that the SD DOT is closing exit 133 to and from the north just in time for football this weekend?

Would not there be a better time?

I predict Zenner puts up 175 on the ground and the Jacks win by 13. No turnovers, please.

These are probably realistic predictions. Aggie fans have had enough disappointments the last few years that we tend to be more down to earth on reality than fans of some other teams.

How about crowd predictions for the home opener? Lots of positive factors: recognizable, quality opponent who has brought some athletes to Coughlin in the past; weather should be nice; home opener; offensive line; stingy defense; healing Sumner; running attack that may own all the records by the end of the season; Zach Zenner!

15,000 + too much to expect?

Hoping for over 15,000! Need a good crowd and a big win to get the crowd motivated to check out more games this year. I'm bringing 9 total with me.

In my opinion, this is a big year for State to decide whether they're going to be an average team or not.

I don't think 15,000 is out of the question. I think the 3 biggest factors that determine home attendance are: the weather, the opponent, and belief in the home team. I think we will hit a home run in all three areas this weekend. The weather forecast could not be much better, opponent is recognizable/respected, the home team has all the looks of a very good football team, with a big upside!!

Judging by the number of tickets still available, I'd say 15k is a stretch. I know we typically have a large walk up crowd, but there is no way. I'll say around 11k.

11K would be a big disappointment. I think we'll do better than that. Looks like great weather, familiar opponent. I would be disappointed with anything less than 13,000. Given the excitement that is building about this team, I think that is a reasonable number to hope for with the potential of something much greater.

No way we will get 15k. I will guess somewhere around 12250.

I agree with this. It is my impression that the Cereal Bowl, while being the first home game of the year, is just not as well-attended as other games, i.e., the Beef Bowl.

I think it will be 11-12K. I will be surprised if its over 12K. Families have so much else going on that a 2 pm football just isn't a priority. If the students don't show up in force the number could be closer to 10K.

I think lack of on-campus sports promotion is a big issue. I was on campus most of the day (last winter) on gameday for MBB vs. NDSU. I did not see one single piece of promotion notifying the students that there was a big game at Frost that night. Nothing. Similarly, more promotion around town in Brookings seems to be something that should be explored. Everyone in that town should know there is a game at 2:00 saturday. Whether or not they attend is up to them, but the AD should make sure that awareness is high.

Agreed. In my experience, many students tend to be unaware of these events.

I think the afternoon game is a problem for our fanbase. My guess is 10983. Seems like a good number. 24-14 Jacks win. Zenner 143 in the ground, Sumner 195 in the air(short field through the whole game will hurt his numbers). Tief breaks one this week. Anyone want powerball numbers while I'm at it?

TV stated on Twitter this afternoon that the athletic department is expecting between 12-13k.
