I'm stumped by those two plays. What the heck is the explanation for that? Were we daring MSU to fake and run? Was one guy supposed to stay near the line of scrimmage or make at least a half-hearted attempt to rush so that the punter actually punts the ball? That can't be the case because the coaches should have taken the one guy to task for leaving his post the first time and it shouldn't have happened the second time. It seems there's only one conclusion: it was planned. Wow. Hope that method for defending on a punt is dropped from the special-team play book.

I can't believe that coaches at this level wouldn't leave at least a couple of players at the line of scrimmage to keep that from happening. I've watched quite a bit of football, and I don't think I have ever seen that happen at any level.

It is just very hard football to watch, between both teams today!

I didn't count any plays after long passes for scores (obviously). That is predictable, ladies and gentleman.
Yep double checked, and on passes of 5 yards or more, we ran on the next play 10 out of 11 times. Those rushes totaled 34 yards, which is actually a better yards per carry than the 3.1 we averaged for the game. But 2 of those runs totaled 23 yards (11 for Zenner on the first drive and 12 for Kool on the touchdown that got stuffed at first and then he broke to the outside). Take away those two plays and we rushed for 11 yards on 8 carries following completed passes of 5 yards or more.

Also interesting, the only time we threw after a big play was on the very first drive and we completed that pass to Rollin for 12 yards. We then ran on the next play for 11 yards with Zenner. That was the last time we threw after a completed pass of 5+ and it was on the very first drive.

a 1 goes in the win column that's all that matters.

I'm sure many of you can remember Hobo Day games when a not so great SDSU team came out and played well above their level and took someone out that they should not have (1985 comes to mind right away). Gotta give MSU credit for coming out with emotion on their homecoming and playing to get another win in a dismal season.

I felt that other games this year we were the better team who lost and shouldn't have. This game we were the team that should have lost but some how won.

Do we really have no kicking game that we have to go for 2 pt conversion in the 2nd qtr? Was it we don't trust our kicker or we wanted to get with 3. Either way in that situition I can not think of any reason going for 2 in a good idea. Then 2 do it twice just compunds the mistake the first time.

The end of the game management just boggles the mind. I guess I go for the philosophy that you go for the win on the road to try to end the game and settle for the tie at home. We could have at least attempted something down field.

Felt our passing game looked pretty good for the most part. Not sure I like seeing the 5 yards out in back to back passing plays. I remember from other games some bad things happened when we did that.

Not sure why we didn't see the flash with the 3 backs we did against ndsu. I think that could work well against a 3-4 defense. Not sure what kool saw when he ran in to the pile before he kicked it out side.

How come we still can't figure out how to tackle by wraping up. Hitting guys with your shoulder might have worked in high scholl. Not here though.

Kicking and punt coverage was good I thought except for that early kick off return they had.

That 80 yard TD pass we had looked a lot like the one we gave up to uni. Got lucky there. Sumner has a good pass just a few were undertrhown but rollin and moss sure looked good. Hubert had a heck of a td catch getting upended.

I guess if you have to score over 40 points to beat a bad team in 2OT your probably not a very good team either. Some how we won but I will take it.

We ran the flash on the play that we fumbled in the first half and never ran it again.

Ahh. I was doing a diaper change at that point. I just we fumbled didn't see it. Well just don't hand it to clare again. Didn't see the formation. Still think its something worth trying agaist a 3_4 defense.

I watched most of the game. A win is a win but some massive holes showed in the team. The defense looked bad, their QB threw the ball about like Tebow did, yet at times still ate up the defense. Sumner did really well but their defense was really bad. He has to learn to throw the ball away he took a few bad sacks, when he thought he could still arm a DE. He continues to take way to many hits. Some of that is on the line, some of that is on himself. The running game at times I thought was better, but is still very predictable. I listened to the first 3 drives on the radio before going home to watch the rest and I was 90% accurate on play prediction just on who was in motion where. If I am that accurate a coach who gets paid to do it is probably more accurate than me.

The defense continues to be a problem though. It seems like they either sack the QB or stop the RB for a loss or give up a 35-40 yard play. The DB's are not very good.

These questions on here need to be submitted for the coaches show. for sure and multiple times from multiple ppl. let's see if we can get straight answers from coach (with good explanations AND ACCOUNTABILITY) if we don't, Time to move on IMO. I think that this is what the coaches show should be for at least some of the time, kind of a "hey coach tell us what happened there..."

It isn't "doom and gloom" when it is just pointing out the obvious. I'm happy for the win, but I'm not the kind of person that is okay with just ignoring the issues with this team. If we had played any other team yesterday, the jacks would have lost by double figures. I, for one, am not happy with squeaking out a victory to stay out of the cellar. We've been talking about all these same problems for 2 years now.
