Game ends on a holding penalty against MSU, preventing the Bears from getting a first down to keep their second overtime alive.

Maybe the Jacks just wanted more television time. And, what happened to that "bend don't break" defense? I think it dun broke a few times.

In the recent past, our defense was good enough to keep us in most games. The offense scored just enough to win. Last year and especially this year, the defense getting run over and the offense has to score 43 points to barely pull one out.

I've given some updates on Minnesota...go figure this: Minnesota 22, Iowa 21. Second year in a row the hapless Gophers beat Iowa. Well, good to see for coach Kill and his program. I kinda like the Gophers.

A couple thoughts.

We won on the road, in conference! that's a good thing.

2. Mo. State probably thought this was a chance for them to win a conference game too. I mean, it was their homecoming and we haven't been setting the world on fire.

3. Sumner really looks good when he has time to throw.

4. I thought the Bears announcers were very good. They said correct names, and gave the Jacks credit when credit was due. Even were fair and rational on the officials calls.

5. Nice to see Zenner start. The future looks bright with him and Sumner...

6. The D could definitely play better, but I've been pleased with Winston Wright. Had pretty good coverage for the most part, and made some nice tackles on misdirection stuff.

I agree 100% with this. I usually despise the announcers but I barely noticed these guys, which is a good thing. They talked about Hobo Day, knew what they were talking about and were very impartial. Video quality was the only thing bad about that broadcast.

I'll have to double check my counting, but I went back through the play-by-play on ESPN and after completions of 5 yards or more, we ran the ball on the next play 10 times out of 11. I didn't count any plays after long passes for scores (obviously). That is predictable, ladies and gentleman.

For the second week in a row,the special teams play was far from special. That play where our punt return team all turned and ran away from the line of scrimmage and let their punter run 20 yards for a first down was flat-out embarrassing.

We did that two punts in a row. The first time their punter just took an extra step. I figured it was a mistake. Then we did it again.
