Good catch HoboJack! Pete was my floor advisor in Scobey Hall during my freshman year at SDSu...and he was the most perfect physical speciman I have ever known. In later years, we served together on several athletic department advisory committees, and it was always a pleasure to work with him. He certainly deserved to get into the HOF! I believe he will be back in Brookings for the Coughlin 50th year event and Letterwinner's Club gathering on October 22.
Take a gander at this list of colleges represented in the HOF. Assuming Vinatieri one day ends up in the hall, and the seniors committee sees fit to elect Retzlaff, SDSU would enter some pretty rare air in joining the likes of Arkansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Georgia, Nebraska, Stanford, Florida, Florida State, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, etc. as schools with three or fewer HOFers.
I have gotten to know Mr. Retzlaff over the years. His resume is incredible. I had no idea he had that strong of a career on the field and his off the field career is equally as impressive. He would be a perfect candidate for the "Senior Committee" to nominate.
Langer, Retzlaff, and Vinatieri would make a nice Jackrabbit HOF triumvirate!
