I'd rather see Sumner step up and do that and throw a pick than watch TOB backpedal and try to heave it out of bounds to watch yet another Bison INT go for 6.
The Jacks are lucky no one got hurt with all of the INT returns on Saturday. Fick just about made a grease spot of a DB on one return. O-linemen are not built to tackle; be grateful for knee braces, seriously.

He watched TOB make poor reads all day long and continue with his incredibly horrible mechanical habits. None of those poor habits improved since the fall and there is little hope these habits will improve. One can coach a player until he is blue in the face, but if the QB continues with these poor habits despite the coach's best efforts, looking elsewhere is a must. There have been statements made in this thread that continue to be optimistic, which I respect. I personally do not share that sentiment if something different is not tried. I can't stand to watch another season of missed reads both at the line and in the QB's route progression coupled with failing to step up in the pocket due to a fear of taking a hit. That may be what drives me crazier than anything else.

Maybe TOB should watch some tape of some past SDSU QBs to see what toughness looks like at the QB position.

My apologies for misspelling and typos. Did this on my blackberry.
These are interesting observations, I think I will wait and see what happens. It could be long season or it could go fast with a successful QB. I notice even TV is starting to question TOB with today's blog.

        Re: Spring Game

I heard Coach Stig on a radio interview today. Competition for the QB position is heating up, he said. Stig said he was disappointed in TOB's performance in the spring game. He also said that the spring game was Austin Sumner's best practice ever. (That's probably not saying a lot.) Jordan Thomas didn't get in rhythm in the spring game, the coach said. I don't know what it all means, but it sounds like the coach is not locked into keeping TOB the starter unless TOB starts showing more. The LBs played the best, Stig said.

I don't care how "tough" the Northwest Suburban Conference may be, it isn't the MVFC. I don't want my team's starting QB to take a bunch of hits. I'd rather have a QB that is smart enough to aviod the hit.

Sorry SoDakJack, at times I have warped sense of humor. The NWSC comment was meant to be tongue in cheek, as with the possibility of Kline starting. Pure sarcasm. No way High School compares to the MVFC. Not close.

This following comment is not sarcasm - Avoiding hits from being smart is different than avoiding hits from being fearful. Remember John Elway's first Super Bowl win.

Also, just because a QB scrambles does not mean he has to take a hit. They can run out of bounds.

Nobody wants quarterbacks to take a hit, but we also don't want a quarterback throwing interceptions to avoid a hit.

I see Teddy Shonka is no longer on the roster. I know he had not gotten much playing time going into his senior year and probably did not see much time at receiver for the coming season.

Teddy has had back problems that haven't allow him to play football. I think he's actually missed the past couple seasons with them. I think he is now a manager or video coordinator with the team.

What was Dominques Wrights injury for this spring? Him and Trevor Tiefenthaler were not suited for the spring game and I also think Dan Schmidt had a concussion?

I think Tiefenthaler was an elbow, Wright was a sholdier? not sure on Wright, but from everything reported neither are bad, and neither are expected to miss any time

Its obvious to me they have not showed that or they would be #1. I believe one of TOB's interception the WR ran a route that the QB wasn't expecting. So who's to blame on that?? My bet is was the WR. Terry V stated it yesterday as he gave people updates of the game with conversation. Bottom line is that TOB is probably the best QB we have and we'll either win with him or we won't. Someone mentioned earlier that TOB didn't play well against UNI last year. Maybe he didn't but I do remember the year before when he lit up UNI at Coughlin. I understand that when things are going good the QB gets a lot of the ink and when things are going bad the QB also gets the blame. Thats just part of the deal. Football though is the ultimate team game and everyone has to be on the same page at all times.
show me where i claimed to be an "expert in the matter" i'm just saying what i saw. if you can't see what tob does in locking in on receivers and not checking down to the next guy you don't know what you are looking at or you're not being honest with yourself. i'm not the only guy that sees what tob does.

Tiefenthaler was in a walking boot.

i have tried to remain silent!

I was at the game and TOB looked terrible and if the QB's behind him are not ready to put up the numbers that TOB does than they better look to transfer and we better step up our recruiting. It is painful to watch.

We can not always play the older player just because they have been around longer than the junior or soph. We should have had a RB that was an underclassman taking carries last year when Kyle went to the bench. There are two schools in this state alone with better receivers than we have.

I hope I am wrong and you guys can let me know.

O I thought Terry said he had an elbow injury. Maybe that was Wright. I'm not sure. All what I remember was none of the injuries are severe and none are expected to miss time.

As far as the team, I think everything will be alright. The passing game will open up with a good running game. The receivers should be fine, the talent is there. The QB who ever it is will have to improve.

I agree that the older player shouldn't play just because they have been there. Tyrel Kool should have received some carries over the past 2 years.

Then I would be because a QB made bad reads and threw INT's in April, against a defense that knows the plays being ran, with weather that was crappy. But hey thats just me.
I have to ask the obvious question....does BHSU have an incumbent QB returning in the fall and did he play in the spring game? If so, did he have 3 balls that were essentially returned for picks?

I know you are basically trying to say...hey it's a spring game, just chill out...but it's now 2 seasons down with 2 to go and no sign of improvement. I gonna still worry more about that, than 300 fans at a spring game in crappy weather....sorry, but that's just me.
