YAH BUT, he was really, really, big across the state. Firing up his time machine for cartoons. A daily occurence on KELO KDLO and KPLO. I am sure there was a similar icon in Ohio. Every state had one. The Feisty Redhed and your son would have enjoyed him and the kids. The Captain went to his eternal rest a few years back, but was around for a long time and had a big impact on SDSU Fans. It might make for a good conversation piece. Just ask fans if they have heard of Capt 11 and you might get a long long conversation.

            Re: Information Needed.

The best part about SDSU is SDSU and Brookings. It isn't about any other place or programs, it isn't about rivalries. It's about the students, the teachers, the support staff, the alumni, the athletes, the coaches, the residents of Brookings. You will be accepted with open arms by all Jackrabbit fans.

Brookings and SDSU offer different opportunities for different people on gameday and otherwise. We love to get there early and enjoy tailgating. After the game a trip to O'Hares or Skinners (all smoke free now). Hobo Day is a must, going to be a little later in the year this fall so dress a little warmer.

Traveling to away games is great as well. There is usually a pretty good contingent of rather intense, loyal Jackrabbit fans. I encourage you to plan for road games if your schedule allows.

Try to make it to some the alumni/student-athlete parent events as they are an excellent opportunity to meet people, network, and establish a lifelong tie to SDSU.

My key point, the opportunity exists for your son to have as great a college experience as he wants to have, the same for you. If you invest in SDSU what SDSU is willing to invest in it's students you will reap plenty of rewards. It isn't about any place or anyone else.

I would suggest a little research on Daktronics (www.daktronics.com) it's a very interesting company in town, and employs many college students, I worked there with a few football players over the summer when I was in school.

OH.. and you HAVE to try the SDSU ICE CREAM!!! and nick's burgers.

How about bars in this order:

                    1. Cubby's
                    2. Skinner's(Skinner's jumps Cubby's if you are just looking for drinks, definitely the coolest and least claustrophobic)
                    3. Ohare's/The Ram
                    4. Jim's Tap
                    5. Ray's
                    6. The Bar formerly known as Safari(some Irish Name now)
                    7. The 9
                    8. Lantern

Did I miss some? I think there's one more bar downtown, can't remember the name. And only about 5 other bars in the whole town.

The band has students who work hard and try to put on a good show just like athletes do. No one heckels the players when they are struggling, or shouldnt anyway, and the band is the same its 18-19 doing something fun to entertain.

You don't insult other student groups so why would it be ok to insult the band?

The Pride is a large bad and plays loud so hope you enjoy them. Most fans wait till the band is done at halftime before going to bathrooms and consessions.

Man ya can't forget Sullys, oh nvm, you got it on there as the Saf, it has a vibe like Skinners with cheaper drinks IMO, and on Thurs-Sat they open the downstairs up and it has a full wine bar down there as well as some nice couches and a fireplace, its really nice.

But the bar you're looking for is Main St. Pub, home of the $10 all you can drink beer.

also the Pheasant lounge is a good place to get a wellpriced meal with a small town feel. If your looking a little more expensive but nice place, the Ram is good for steaks. The Ram is above and Ohares is below, Use to be an old bank.

My personal favorite is Zestos. The footlong chili cheese dog or the bbq pork or sloopy joes. apparently they have ice cream but I perfer the food. I stick to SDSU ice cream.

Personal pet peeve, no s on Zesto. I know the owner of the one in Pierre (trumps the one in Brookings and its not even close) and its just Zesto

                              I would go with:
                              1. Cubbys
                              2. O'Hares

                              7. Main Street Pub (and I only go there if I want to sing karaoke)
                              8. The Lantern

                              9. The 9 (I can't stand that place)

I usually don't go anywhere except the first four or at closing the Lantern since there last call is later than everyone else

Perhaps Weary Wills will become a destination place?

Anyone know when that's slated to open? Maybe it already is open?
