    Re: Summit Outdoor Championships

Here's a link to the Men's 4x400 from the Summit League Championships. SDSU wins the race running 3:12.59, the fifth fastest time in school history. The school record is 3:10.56, set in 1998. Reported splits for this years squad were roughly: Dustin Gibbons (1st leg) - 49.1, Jake Schneller (2nd leg) - 49.0, Jared Foote (3rd leg) - 47.9, Luke Leischner (Anchor leg) - 46.4. This squad consists of three true sophmores, and a redshirt sophmore. They should be fun to watch in the next few years...

The video was shot by a Southern Utah student so it isn't always focused on SDSU.

Okay, I've watched the video four times...will watch is many more. Excellent baton carries by each of the runners! It's been a long while since SDSU put that kind of 400m horsepower on the track.

The hallmark of every good track team is a stable of good quartermilers...some come down from the 800 and even the 1500, others run the 100 and 200 well and others still are hurdlers (as in, if we need another quartermiler, get the sticks out of his way and watch a guy like Brandon Priebe). Lots of positive signs about the Jackrabbits.

How about sophomore Greg Beesley taking 2nd by inches in the 10,000 and then winning the 5,000 today...with teammate Marshall Kambestad, a junior, right behind Beesley in the 5000.
Priebe doesn't have 49.0 or lower speed in him. The hurdles definitely help him. Our 4x4 is set for the next two years unless we get a stud recruit or Cole Tucker returns to his C St. Freshmen form. The last three track events scored 44 points for the Jacks and propelled us over Oral Roberts. Coming in they should have beat us in these events (400, 5000, 4x400) but we beat them. The men's goal was to not get last overall and get 4th with a good meet. That shows how well this meet went for the Jackrabbits!

I do believe Cole Tucker is officially done with track. He is going to Iowa for grad school.
