I was loading a trailer in the Caldwell Hall parking lot while the game was going on. Definitely not ideal baseball weather, and the entire time I thought that the wind was definitely going to make it tough on the pitchers. Sounds like it did.
You can't teach an old dog new tricks, but you can never teach a stupid dog anything.
Vermeulen hasn't allowed an earned run in his last 13 appearances, over a period of 25 innings.
Can't ask any more from your closer than that! That's outstanding,& give the whole team credit for giving him the lead to protect. One more for the sweep!
It's been quite a couple of days in Jackrabbit land. Sat through the 30-35mph winds, intermittent showers. a little sleet, 44 degree weather, yesterday, and hardly noticed it as the Jacks refused to lose. ORU fan board (and their announcer who was here for the game) were complaining loudly about playing the game. Their announcer slammed our facilities hard (I don't blame him, but who cares).
Then today's doubleheader sweep was as sweet as they come. Since this is the first time that ORU has lost a series in the Summit League since they joined in 1998, it was delicious! The first game was amazing...down 7-0 in the second inning, and we outscore them 10-2 after that! The Jacks just kept swinging their bats, and in the end, Trevor Vermeulen shut them down completely in all three games...WOW!
Would, of course, love to win tomorrow and we certainly have a very good chance as our hitters our jumping on their pitchers, a little better than they are on ours. GO JACKS!
