These are some eye-opening numbers, bound to grab attention up the Minor League hierarchy.

here is how most major league teams have there minor league affilites

low rookie ball- generally played at the spring training complex, also where instructional league is and extended spring training. alot of high school draft picks and foreign players play there first year there

high rookie ball- a lot are played in small cities.... its where a lot of the college draft picks go after signing.... its rookie ball but has more of the minor league atsmosphere

(short season)- some teams have an affiliation that is called short season A ball

(Rookie ball and short season are considered short season, meaning they start in June and finish in August and only play 1 season.... )

low A ball- a little bit bigger cities (Quad Cities, Beloit)

High A ball- a lot of times they are at the spring training complex and play in the stadium used for spring training games... a lot of top prospects start the season there

        AA- self explanitory

        AAA- self explanitory

low A throuhg AAA play split seasons.... similar to the Canaries they have a first half and a second half... the reason for this is a lot of clubs will promote players midway through the season

          Re: SDSU Minor Leaguers

Well since being promoted, Thielbar has picked up were he left off.

He's only pitched in 2 games for 1.2 innings but hasn't allow a run yet and has 2 SO.

That is awesome. Exactly what Caleb was hoping for. Spoke with his Mom at the Metrodome tourney. She said he had worked very hard in the off season with hopes of making the A league. Main benefit is that it starts much earlier and plays more games than the league he was in last year. Secondary wish, of course, was to play in the Midwest League. The Timber Rattlers will put him just over 5 hours from home so Cal and Janet will be able to watch him play. Go get em Caleb!!

Some stats on the 2010 SDSU minor leaguers:

Caleb Thielber - RP - High Rookie League & Single A
                                0-2, 59 IP, 47 SO, 3 Saves, 5.49 ERA
                                - Hopefully a sophomore slump for Caleb as he was tremendous in his 1st season

                                Korby Mintken - 2B/Util - Single A & A+
                                .199 AVE, .298 OBP, .236 SLG - 14 Steals, 13 RBI
His defense and versatility must be keeping him in the minors because those hitting numbers sure aren;t

Jake Rogers & Craig Parry are both playing in the Independent League.
