I was at the game, and Issac Johnson did a great job of pitching through his six innings. Unfortunately, the wheels fell off in the seventh when not only did our relief pitching falter a little, but we had several bad throwing errors. Without those, the Jacks were in command and playing well, and should have won. Both days (Friday and Saturday), the Gophers had strong relief pitching, which shut the Jacks down late in the game. While both teams have the same scholarship levels, I noted that we have one redshirt player (Max Fenske), while the Gophers had 12. That made their roster much deeper. I believe that is an advantage as they pick up walk-on players who are redshirted, and get some pretty veteran players in the upper classes. Still a good showing by the Jacks!Comment
