the baseball team gets the season underway tomorrow.

we have 17 OOC games. 4 four game series vs New Mexico St, New Mexico, SIU Edwardsville, and Dayton. One game vs Kansas St. then Summit play. I have no idea how good our OOC opponents are supposed to be

Jacks are picked #3 preseason in Summit. ORU and NDSU are 1 and 2 respectively. it would probably not be overly smart to doubt ORU ability to fill their roster with quality players, BUT they lost a TON from their NCAA team from last year. they get only 2 players back who contributed anything to the offense and i am not saying I remember exactly every player who pitched for them, but i think they are also getting back only a couple of their main pitchers also

i am less familiar with what NDSU returns, but I am sure they get back more than ORU does

The Jacks lose an all time excellent closer in Bouraasa but they get a lot of starters back and another excellent reliever in Clemons. We did lose some excellent offensive players!! but we do return Perry, Bellows, Anderson, Stuff, and Kozal. they all had solid to very good seasons last year. they showed potential to be very good. Schramm was highly recruited at Catcher and showed signs last year that he could be very good. Also true Freshman SS Ronken is very highly regarded

hopefully the Jacks can get into a good rhythm before Summit play begins. we get a huge test opening week of league play on the road at ORU, but like i said they are going to be trying to incorporate basically a whole new lineup so maybe early in league play will be a good time to face them

the hitting has been ABSOLUTELY incredible!!
        pitching has been WILDLY inconsistent

disappointing to lose yesterday and the first game today when we have the lead going into the 9th inning. really really hard losing one game that way and we have done it two in a row

it appears that this team has potential to be among the best the jacks have ever had, if we can stop giving up one or two BIG innings in too many games

anyone have any idea what happened to Senior CF Reece Anderson? or how long he will be gone?
played the first two games. hitting 4 for 7 with a HR. has not played since

obviously the offense is still Rolling with a capital R!!, but he was expected to be a big piece of the puzzle this year and it would definitely be best to have him back!!

Jacks are 3-5 could VERY easily be 5-3. won the opener in a blowout last week then lost TWICE after going into the 9th with a lead

feels like the Jacks have a good chance to get back headed in the right direction. McKay on the mound today

Jacks go to ORU in two weeks to open league play. it feels like we have a serious chance to build some momentum and head to Tulsa with a shot at winning the series. hopefully the pitching begins to develop some consistency this weekend!!

Jacks have 7, yes seven, hits through 3 innings. scored a run in the top of the first. Parry (the 5th HR in 8 games plus 3 innings) and Frost go back to back in the 3rd. leading 3-1 SIUE batting in bottom of 3

guessing it is an injury, but whatever the reason, Anderson absence has opened time for several new players- Jucos, RS Fresh, and true Fresh- to play and play well, adding to the Jacks offense

Frost (juco) has batted cleanup all year and he and Parry have been a dynamite one two punch in the heart of the order
Sintek (RSF) has started every game at short. started slow with the stick but heating up very well
Luskey (RSF) seems to have become the main 1b with Parry usually the DH, has a hit already today and seems to be heating up
Carr (juco) seems to be emerging as the top catching option, showing good power and solid average
Ronken (Fresh) has started every game since Anderson went out, both infield and OF, has another hit today moving his average over .320
Henry (Fresh) starts again today in LF, appears to be gaining PT and confidence

SIUE got a run in bottom of 3 and begin their half of 4 with a leadoff double
if our pitchers can just stop allowing the BIG innings, it seems our offense is going to put up over 8 runs a game. we were actually over 9 a game until we put up 2 in the final vs UNM

McKay works around the leadoff double!! Jacks still lead 3-2 going to the 5th
great job by Mckay. more of that and this team could be VERY dangerous

WOW!!! SIUE opens the bottom of 5 with 3 consecutive hits. i am thinking PLEASE dont let this be another big inning for the bad guys!! McKay comes back and holds them to one run

going to the 6th tied 3 - 3. time to get the sticks going again

was looking like maybe McKay was wearing down, but he finished with 3 straight outs, including the batter who had been 2 for 2 with 2 doubles

bottom of the Jacks order continues a cold start to the weekend. 3 up 3 down and the Jacks make a quick turnaround back to defense

Jacks make a pitching change, the quick inning on offense might have contributed to this decision

need a quick defensive inning of our own and get the top of the order back up in the 7th

well, I should not have said anything about the hitting I guess(( now we are hitless since the 3rd. top of the order goes down 1,2,3 in the top of 7

somebody needs to create a spark. Jacks need to get this one

Well there you go. Anderson back in the leadoff spot today and picks up where he left off. 2 hits already and the jacks leading 7-1 with SIUE batting in bottom of the 8th

                      second game starts at 3:30

First place (3-0) Jacks take on First place (3-0) STU tomorrow in omaha at 11am

i would say it is a safe bet the Jacks have played quite a bit tougher schedule. if nothing else our league 3-0 record came against ORU, while they played UNC who is literally ZERO and 21 on the season.

but just playing a weaker schedule does not guarantee they are a weaker team. tomorrow we find out. i assume we have McKay going again tomorrow. hopefully he can keep his strong season going

Jacks get hammered 19-7 by 2-22 Northern Colorado. Led 4-2 going into the 6th before the bullpen melted down.

couple things about UNC- they played a pretty tough OOC schedule. last week they 10 run ruled UNO 2 out of 3 games

that said, Jacks pitchers, both starters and releivers have been UNABLE to avoid giving up HUGE innings on a much too regular basis. last week starter Goble ( who has been on a wild roller coaster ride of back and forth incredibly good starts and very ugly starts) gave up 6 runs to St Thomas in the first inning

today we gave up 6 runs again in the 6th inning and NINE runs in the 8th

it appears that UNC is quite a bit better than their record, but losing 2 of our last 3 is a very disappointing follow up to our road sweep of ORU

they mentioned on the broadcast today that RS Freshman Sintek is going to be out for some amount of time. that might have a bit of a negative impact on the offense
