Sacramento State - Baseball

Up next for the Jackrabbits is the Sac State Hornets.  For the sport of baseball Sacramento State is part of the WAC (this will be their second season in the WAC).  The Hornets have played 5 games so far this year and are still looking for win #1.  They went 20-37 last season and have 15 kids back from last year's team (they also have 6 kids who red shirted last season).   However, of those 15 only three are returning position starters. They do have two starting pitchers returning.

I am sure this will be a big series for some of our CA Jackrabbits (Matt Zabel, Tyson Fisher, Matt Bowman, Jacob Kougl, Erick Bess and our own head coach Reggie Christiansen who is a native of Ferndale, CA) as I believe this will be our first trip to Sunny California since we moved up to D-I.

Our game with the Hornets on Friday the 16th will be the Sac State's home opener.

Sacramento State’s first games scheduled at Hornet Field last week were rained out with two-straight days of showers.

The result, the Hornets will open 2007 this Friday, hosting South Dakota State in a three-game series with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. The series can be followed with a live audio broadcast available on www.hornetsports.com with Dylan McKenzie providing the play-by-play.
