  • IPFW coming to Brookings

Future Summit League member IPFW comes to Brookings this weekend to take on the Jackrabbits. This will be the one and only chance for the locals to see the Jackrabbits play in the friendly confines of Bob Sheldon Field. Looks like weather might be an issue. Hopefully the games get played and the Jacks get some good crowds. They are a talented bunch and deserve our support.

SDSU comes into the game with a record of 25-17 while the Mastodons limp in at 9-32. Double headers on both Saturday and Sunday. Here is a link to IPFW's Baseball site:

we need to get at least 3 out of 4 heading out to Greeley and getting ready for the independant tourney. Hopefully the weather holds and they can get all four games in. It would be great to get to 30 wins this year.

Interesting news coming from the broadcast.  Tyler Merriam said the schedule he has seen has all of next years home games (including Minnesota) being played in Brookings.  He says the Jackrabbits may be playing at the new on-campus baseball stadium next season!  8-)

I was told it would be finished. Or at least the Brookings Cubbies are hopeful. They were given permission to schedule some games up there (SDSU) this summer. I believe they are still looking for one more major gift to finish some of the other amenities. Not sure the specifics.

I have heard that it has a diamond design ;D

If you are familiar with SDSU it runs just to the north of the football practice fields. If you drew a line from home through center field it would point North East. There is currently a scoreboard in place and fenceposts are up for the outfield. The grass looks pretty nice but there are no dugouts, stands or fencing as of the last time I drove by.

I was hoping for Cadwell's grandstand on Riversides field with demensions like the birdcage
