Safety was the key reason, but I also think the NCAA wanted to create an environment similar to minor league baseball and I think that is one of the reasons are going to the new ball.
I played amateur ball with a wood bat, and coached high school with BBCore bats, and I hit the ball much harder/further with wood, but everyone has their own opinion on the matter.Comment
