From the story: No one on the mound was better on this night than Somsen. The 6-foot senior from Yankton, S.D., three years removed from Tommy John surgery, throws with a violent, over-the-top delivery, not unlike the San Francisco Giants' Tim Lincecum.

No doubt a tough loss. how big it would have been if a win. Somsen held up but not enough to pull it out. Its tough to face good batters with a tired arm.

Tough loss the Jacks. They were in position to win the game. Would've liked to see them playing Rice today. Hope they get a shot at the Owls and another shot at the Ducks.

Dang. That hurts. So close. The Ducks win with one timely hit. The Jacks could have, and probably should have, won that game. Somsen couldn't quite finish but pitched a great game.

Oregon 3, SDSU 2 at the end of 8
In the eighth, Somsen walked a guy. JD Moore took the mound. He hit a guy (who happens to have the Oregon school record for most 'too stupid to get out of the way of the ball'. So, runners on first and second. Then Oregon's best hitter steps to the plate and hits a double, driving in two runs to give the Ducks the lead.

And now, Sherfy, the All-American closer for Oregon is on the mound.
