We dropped the opener 6-0 in Omaha yesterday. The Jackrabbits need to win both games in today's doubleheader and win tomorrow's game in order to share the league's regular season title with UNO. Here's a link to the story on GoJacks.com

The season has been an interesting one. NDSU was the pre-season pick for the regular-season title and they've scuffed the ball around much of the season. SDSU was picked to finish second in the league. UNO was picked to finish at the bottom.

Winning out in Omaha will be very tough but it's possible. Tyler M with the play-by-play on AM 910 radio.

    Go Jacks!

      Re: UNO

It's knotted at 4-4 in the top of the seventh (7 inning game, first of the double header today). Right now we have two outs but the go-ahead run is sitting on third.

Darn...there's the third out so we go to the bottom of the 7th.

First game: Omaha 6, SDSU 4
second game: SDSU 12 Omaha 5

Omaha takes regular season title. SDSU finishes second. SDSU is the top seed for the SL tourney. One more game at Omaha tomorrow.

              Re: UNO

I watched KELOLAND clip of Friday's games. UNO does seem to have the bats and finding ways to get around our good pitching. Going 1-3 is disappointing, but since UNO is not eligible for the SL tourney we are still playing baseball. Let hope we do better next week in Rochester, Michigan.

Omaha's batters are outstanding. They have seven hitting over .300 and they definitely deliver when a hit is needed...something we have struggled with. Our pitching matches up pretty well with theirs...but obviously their hitting stole the show. Coach Schrage had said ahead of time that they were great fastball hitters, and when Layne pitched, they knocked his fastball solidly. Turns out that they had watched film and picked up a tip on when he was going to throw the FB, so they were really sitting on it. He had no idea that he was tipping his hand...but knows now! Our pitching will match the tourney pitching, but we need to get a strong showing on the hitting side if we want to win and advance. Heading for Detroit Wednesday...GO JACKS!!!
