Been bar-hopping in Macomb today (sigh). Was definitely too cold to play in the rain so glad the game was called off. Tomorrow (Saturday) still a bit iffy, but the weather channels are giving us a little better chance as we go on. WIU has a very nice field, and it seemed to be handling the rain pretty good earlier today, but we have gotten well over an inch during the day and more coming tonight. Tomorrow is supposed to be about 12-15 degrees warmer and that will help a bit even if we do have some light showers hanging around. Keep your fingers crossed and GO JACKS!!

Hey, at least it isn't the snow Kansas City got yesterday and overnight last night. First May accumulation since 1907.

But things should turn around--I removed the snow tires from my car today. Spring is now officially here.

Won game 1, 4-1. Layne tossed a 2 hitter in 6 innings to get the W!

We were up 5-0 in the middle of the 7th in game 2 when the game was stopped because of rain. Bougher had given up only 2 hits! Finish tomorrow at 11 AM.

Thought it would be official with another W after 5 1/2?

that is a rule, and I'm guessing that is what they would have done if it would have been Sunday night, but since they are playing tomorrow anyways its best to play these games out.

                          Re: Western Illinois

This situation is similiar to when they played ORal Roberts several years ago. To cold and damp to play, field was still covered with the tarp, Jacks took the field, umpires said play, ORU batter stepped in, one pitch was thrown, game was suspended. The only way 3 games can be played in a day was if one was the completion of a suspended game. Wintry weather in April and May can cause this to happen during the college baseball season.

Not sure what happened with the game that was being finished earlier today, but in the first game of today's double header, we are down 2-1 going into the bottom of the 6th. You can watch for free here
