Layne Somsen goes 8 2/3 of shutout ball and Jacks beat St. Louis, 3-0, this afternoon. Heck of a performance.

Somsen has already had some impressive starts. Sadly they all did not end with a win, Shut out over St. Louis - excellent. Can't wait to watch this team when they return to South Dakota.

Yes Layne pitched well yesterday but the defense and timely hitting were big contributors to the win. This team is maturing with each game and will be a fun team to watch and support. So plan a fun afternoon at the 'Erv' this spring...you won't be disappointed!

Kid has a rocket arm and the right attitude. Hope he can stay healthy.

Jacks lost the opener of a DH in St. Louis today, tied at 1 in the mid-innings of the second game.

I thinking it has probably happened in the past but - I am not sure? Has our baseball team ever been above 500 at this time of the year? It will be awhile before we get to see them. Cold weather still in the forecast for most of the midwest. Can't imagine Huether is going to be playable for a long time.

                  Re: Jacks-SLU

Actually the Jacks were 11-7 at the end of March 2010. Not a bad season...ended up 19-9 in the Summit and in the league Championship game. Lets hope all goes as well this year. There was talk in St. Louis about Coach S. already looking into playing some games in SF if necessary for field conditions. Hope spring hits soon and the field guys are able to get the Erv ready in time for NDSU series.
