  • Somsen Snakebit!

Layne has been snakebit to this point of the season. His ERA heading into today was .64 and he pitched well again today in a no decision.

This team is pitching much better this season thus far. Great to see. The warmer temps today made me think of how much I like sitting out at The Erv and watching the Rabbits.

    Go Rabbits!

Seems like this happened last year to Layne as well. Law of averages should take effect eventually if he keeps pitching well.

Been impressed with our pitching staff so far this season.
If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.

There is no doubt that our pitching is strong. Layne is going to have a great year, and Steven Boughyer is off to a great start as well. It is amazing to me how many of the players our new coaches brought in, are in the starting lineup, or playing a lot, and hitting exceptionally well. Winning two out of three (Layne won 3-0 in the first game), against St. Louis is pretty heady stuff. The Billikens won 2 out of 3 against both Michigan and Oral Roberts and have played a ton of games already. It is going to be a fun season! Best of luck Jacks at Creighton on Wednesday!

I had thought the Coach would get us off to a great start last year, but I guess he needed some time to get his ducks in row. We are looking really great so far this year. With old man winter hanging tight, I see April 4th is our first home game. Lets hope we get some thawing weather between now and then. I really dont want to see our home games played in Yankton or Vermillion, but that just might happen in which case we will probably have good turnout by JackMD, the Yankton Jackrabbit club and the Somsen family

Here's to a bigger and better snake bite for Layne Somsen.

Not to diminish the big wins in St. Loo but I think they split with Michigan and WIU and have not played that many more games than we have. AND ORU is 5-12. No wonder they left the Summit.

Rob Walton left ORU to take the Oklahoma st pitching coach job after last season. That's probably the main reason for their downfall. They won't be the same for quite some time, summit league or not imo

Not snakebit anymore...report today that Layne Somsen has been moved up to Triple A!! This is an old thread, but I couldn't seem to be able to create a new one. Mods may want to change the title? Really happy for Layne and excited to see him in AAA!

Awesome! I was able to meet Layne when he was playing for the Mustangs. He's a good kid.
