  • Mississippi Valley State

Looking at the numbers it should be a good weekend for the Rabbits. MVState is 1-9 with a team ERA of 11.00 and a team BA of .215. Three of those games were against Dallas Baptist who year in and year out is one of the better baseball programs in the southwest. The main issue facing the Rabbits this weekend is the outside factor. MVState is outside playing and practicing. The Rabbits are leaving the barn to get back to action.

    Go Rabbits!

Agree about MVState practicing outside being a huge advantage. The Jacks, however just returned from Florida where they got 4 games and a couple of practices outside. They are also stopping along the way today to get a practice in Arkansas. For anyone interested, our own Wood Bob radio will be broadcasting the games on the spring break trip. There are 2 ways to listen........via your phone conference call 530-881-1400 and then use the access code 488972. Via the internet use the following link...http://www.freeconferencecallhd.com/hd-conferencing/ then under "dial in via our flash phone" click to launch, find 530-881-1400 in the list of numbers and use the same access code as above. Wood Bob will do most games not covered by the Jackrabbit Network.

Too bad we couldn't get the win as Layne Somsen pitched a great game, see below.

Jackrabbit pitcher Layne Somsen tied a Division I-era record with 12 strikeouts in only seven innings. Somsen with no-decision in 4-3 loss.

Impressive performance by Somsen. Layne has to be on a lot of lists maintained by the Big League scouts.

Jacks sweep today's doubleheader against Mississippi Valley State. 12-2, 6-4.

Couple of good wins over a team we should beat? MV state has only 2 wins on the season - 2-11 after the Jackrabbit double header sweep. Take nothing away from the wins. Wins are wins.
