Re: Oakland
It was a brutally cold and windy day, and the wind raised havoc with the pitchers. At the end of the day, it was two pitchers who turned in surprisingly good outings (i.e., surprising in that they are not the usual names) in Deon Entringer and Eric DeJong. The second game was a nailbiter after Oakland touched up Trevor Vermuelen for three runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game. The wind was especially hard on a thrower like Vermuelen, as he was pitching directly into it, and so he had a tough outing. But DeJong shut down Oakland from there, and the Jacks finally got the hits they needed in the bottom of the ninth to close it out. Weather will be just as nasty today with 50mph wind gusts projected along with 30-35 mph steady otherwise!!
