Proposal before the presidents

In today's Fargo Forum article about the Bison clinching the Summit volleyball title, the author mentioned a proposal giving the champion the first chance to host the following year's tournament. He didn't mention the proposal extending to any other sports, but nothing he wrote suggested the opposite either. Has Terry V wrote anything about this in the Argus, his blog or his twitter?

As this year’s league champion, NDSU also has the option to host the 2010 Summit tournament under a proposal expected to get approval from the conference’s president’s council.

That is interesting.

I would guess though that it may not extend to men's and women's basketball. With potential income for the conference, that tournament would most likely continue to be placed by bid.

Seems silly to me.

Either give the school the advantage that year, or rotate it. VB is about the only sport where I imagine scheduling conflicts could factor in--except at NDSU which has a separate VB facility.

Don't create some bizarre mishmash where next year's team is rewarded for this year's performance.

BTW: Does any other conference do this?
