ORU promoted from within ORU Athletics Announces Cophie Anderson as New Head Women’s Basketball Coach - Oral Roberts University

Heard an interesting take how schools who hire search firms and go with the internal candidate get swindled out of $$ and/or they're used as promotional opportunities for later use. Examples this person gave were of an AD hiring one for the team only to use them for himself later and how search firms would go with names they're familiar/connected with. There were a few interesting connections to the Wisconsin & Missouri hires

This person describes it but doesn't use any names. Jocelyn Gates works for Turnkey as VP - Coaches, College & Performance and is Mizzou Men HC's wife. Robin Pingleton is the coach who resigned from Mizzou and is now the HC at Wisconsin. Kellie Harper is the former Vols coach (out of coaching for a year) who is now HC at Mizzou women.

Wisc AD did admit that Jocelyn Gates helped with the search. (article)

I spent most of the game yelling at her to sit down and shut up. She is the worst.

That is a huge loss at PG for the next 3 years. She was a home town player.

Musick is out of ORU. Arkansas is the new venue.

per Arkansas reporter Kelsi Musick's Arkansas contract is 5 years at $600,000 annually. Can't blame her

Not surprised but definitely a blow for the quality of our league. Feels like any female coach who does well in our league is going to get an offer to a bigger program. This isn’t going to help our NET and competition moving forward. Adding low level schools like Utah Tech isn’t the answer but not sure what else is.

We had a few early WNIT exits that weren’t pretty but I wouldn’t say I’ve ever seen our team just not show up. Arizona’s coach, who I’ve never been a huge fan of, said after her team’s loss this week that they didn’t want to play. That’s just poor form all around.
