King Signs With Centenary Gents Basketball

SHREVEPORT—Centenary head men’s basketball coach Rob Flaska has announced the signing of Jamere King to a National Letter of Intent. King joins Anthony Gatlin, Justin Glenn, and Tim Price, all signed in the early period, as the 2007-08 recruiting class for the Gents.

King (Tulsa, Okla.) signs with Centenary after averaging 18 points, seven rebounds, and six assists during his senior season at Booker T. Washington High School. The 6’2” guard was named first team All-District, second team All-Metro, honorable mention All-State, and was a McDonald’s All-American nominee.

“Jamere is a combo guard who gives us someone with great ball skills and an understanding of the game,” said Flaska. “He can play the point, but also has a deadly shooting touch that allows him to play two guard. In addition, he is an excellent student with a 3.7 grade point average.” . . .

Flaska Inks Martin to Centenary Scholarship


SHREVEPORT—Centenary men’s basketball coach Rob Flaska has announced the fifth signing in his 2007-08 recruiting class as Marcus Martin has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Gents. Flaska expects Martin to contribute right away as he joins the core of a team that improved by seven wins last season.

Martin, a 6’7” wing player out of Austin, Texas, averaged 17 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and one block per game in the prep ranks. He was tabbed as one of the top five freshmen in the state of Texas at Akins High School.

“Marcus has the ability to be an impact player for us right away,” said Flaska. “He is a tall wing that can score from the three-point line, put it on the floor, or post up. He gives us a person on the perimeter that can score and rebound and he has the upside to develop into an all-league performer.” . . . (read more)
