That sure could be. As long as we tack another L on them, they could go to 7-4 and it wouldn't bother me.

Watched the first half of the usd vs. St. Thomas. usd is going to take a step back next year (maybe longer). Without the big 3 they aren't very impressive. A few days ago the talk about DP leaving made me think after this year if she has it in the back of her mind to move on/up it would be a great time to do it.

And then factor in that the Jacks should only lose Irwin plus some players off the bench. And add in four recruits that if nothing else should improve the depth. And hopefully a completely healthy Myah.

UND surprised me by beating KC. Borowicz looking like the real deal and 6’5” Leet in the middle is giving people trouble. It will be interesting to see how the 3-5 positions play out.

            Women's Preseason Poll (1st votes) | Points
            1.South Dakota (20) | 712
            2.South Dakota State (18) | 672
            3.North Dakota State | 544
            4.Kansas City | 486
            5.Denver | 385
            6.Oral Roberts | 383
            7.Western Illinois | 382
            8.Omaha | 314
            9.North Dakota | 181
            10.St. Thomas | 147

            1. USD 9-0
            2.SDSU 8-1
            3.UND 6-3
            4.ORU 4-4
            5.NDSU 4-5
            6.KC 3-4
            7.STU 3-5
            8.WIU 2-5
            9.Omaha 2-7
            10.Denver 1-8

UND women are a big surprise at this point and they will entertain the 2 leaders this week as they look to extend the winning streak. Tommies are not cemented to bottom with 3 wins in the first half. Denver slipped from mid pack to back of the pack. The Bison have time to improve, but it appears the slump is on in Fargo.

My thoughts on the current standings:

                1. USD
                2. SDSU
Nothing to see here. The clear top dogs and frankly, not even close. The potential for each to beat the next team here by 30-40 on any given night.

                3. UND
Coach of the year stuff to take this roster and have them in this position. Don't think they are truly the 3rd best team, but Borowitcz looks like a POY candidate. Leet is a force in the middle on defense and is starting to bring a presence on offense. Probably the 3 or 4 seed at the end of the season.

                4. ORU
Don't know what to think of this team. Probable new comer/freshman of the year in Tirzah Moore, but for some unknown reason last year's Freshman of the year Tierney Coleman (who scored 22 against us) is getting almost no court time. A Friedel type situation? Not much to see outside of that. Frankly seem like a team that should be more in the 6-8 range in the standings.

                5. NDSU
Seems to have taken a step back in the 3rd season under Collins. Likely are in the 4-5 range at the end of the year. Hamlin, Dietz, and Cobbins are all 2nd team type talents, but aren't bringing it consistently.

                6. KC
IMO, the biggest disappointment in the conference so far. Have really underperformed based off the talent they have. Alnatas and McDavid are likely 1st team all Summit players, and have talent around them going 6 deep. Nero is maybe the 6th player of the year. But haven't put it together after a non-con of subpar record building type teams. Think the Covid issues that cost them games put them a bit behind the 8 ball. The team I would least like to meet in the semifinals in Sioux Falls. Top 6 are also seniors/grads, so a make or break year for them as they will plummet next year barring transfer booms.

                7. STU
Playing well and making noise with a mainly DII/III roster. Just goes to show how bad this league is outside the top 2. Jade Hill is an all newcomer player with a bright future.

                8. WIU
A team on the decline. A very senior laden team that was propped up with a very weak no-con schedule. Frankly, this ranking is about right where they should be based off talent. How this team led USD at halftime in Vermillion is beyond me. Nichols is likely to make 1st team based off her scoring, but wouldn't be good enough to get many minutes on a SD based team roster. Thorpe is likely all newcomer team.

                9. Omaha
Another team that is performing below expectations/talent. A very talented front line but no guard play. The run in the Summit League tourney last year really seems like a fluke at this point, but the potential to be that type of team is still there. This team should be middle of the pack.

                10. Denver
Again another team that is underperforming. Has a probable 2nd team all Summit player in Ezudu and some decent other pieces. This team just seems to lack depth and a decent coaching staff.

This week will be quiet on the women's front until Saturday which is the rematch of the #1 & #2 teams in the standing. Have the Jackrabbits shown enough life to challenge yotes? The performance in Vermillion was either subpar Jackrabbits or the yotes are that much better than the Jackrabbits. I am leaning toward the former and the yotes are very tough in the SCSC. A win at Frost for the Jackrabbits would be a long feather in the cap! This is certainly the headliner game for both men and women when the 11-0 yotes square off with 10-1 Jackrabbits. Saturday is projected to be mid 40's and sunny which is a great recipe for Jackrabbit fans to enjoy a home victory!

Valentine matinee in Kansas City for a makeup game results in 69-53 victory for the Roos. The Tommies have problems with full court pressure. 17 turnovers and only 7 foul shots for Tommies was a boring game. The Roos are in third place at 10-4 while UND is 9-6. Those 2 will play Thursday.
It should be noted that the Roos have pegged #25 in the Mid Major poll joining SDSU at #10 & USD at #7.

USD at WIU postponed due to COVID protocol with Western. Not much time to make it up, but they almost have to with the tie at the top of the standings.

There is no word on the makeup game on Summit Twitter. Yotes would be anxious for this game. It seem to be after regular season games for the Covid wait period.

When the league revised the COVID policy to allow rescheduling of postponed games, didn't they say that if games couldn't be rescheduled that forfeits could be declared against the team that caused the postponement ?

It’s a bit scary this happened during the time when our girls were playing them and this close to SLT from an exposure perspective.

Prior announcement indicated games that were unable to be rescheduled would be "no contests"

You may also notice that announcement indicates League preference to avoid having teams play six games during 12-day stretch, which 'Yotes shouldn't approach, even if rescheduled game is on or before Feb. 24

No contest would certainly fire up the yotes for a play date. Are they able to schedule after the regular season concludes? Do the yotes normally fly on a trip like this?
