I agree. I was most amazed probably of the ability of Sverjen to keep her butt off the floor!

She didn't fall down as much as last year for sure. I'm still surprised she isn't on the floor more. She only had 3 fouls and didn't play much the last 5 minutes. Arens does seem to be the team catalyst or their hustle playmaker. She isn't the most talented, but is their most important glue player, much like her sister.

USD is firmly the favorite in the league and we will need to be at our best to play with them this year. Even though they lost, their defense will give us some problems with our lack of outside shooting.

I first want everybody to know that I thought USD would be the favorite for this year at the end of last year and I still do.

I know that basketball is a game of matchups so comparing scores isn't great but I don't know how far ahead USD is. SDSU lost @Drake by 7 points. USD won at home against Drake by 8 in OT. USD was down by 4 points with about 20 seconds left in the game. Drake had the ball up by 2 (I think) with 5 seconds left. If they don't throw the ball away, they may win in regulation. That is a lot of could have, should have, would have but SDSU doesn't seem really far behind. I'm sure both SDSU and USD can play better than they did in their games but I'm thinking, "there is a chance".

I my be an optimist but I think SDSU will shoot better as the season moves along. SDSU shot really bad against Creighton .154% from 3-points land. You take that game out and they shoot around .333%. Last year, the team shot .374%. I don't think the freshmen and Theuninck will keep up the pace they are at but I think Myah, Tylee and Stapleton(If she keeps jacking them up at the rate she is) will all improve on what they have shown in the first few games.

I am worried about ball handling and shooting so we will see how they effect this season.

ORU women(4-5) were preseason #4 in the Summit. They had a tough game against 4-2 So Utah last night. So Utah won 72-58. The Eagles allowed 38 points in the paint as So Utah outscored ORU 16-0 on fast break points on the way to 30-50 shooting(60%). They were also out rebounded 30-20. If the Golden Eagles continue on this track, 4 through 9 may be interchangeable. One other note for this game was 6-22 3 pt for ORU and 5-13 3 pt for So Utah.

NDSU WBB loses to Wisconsin by 1 - things have clearly turned around up there in a quick hurry under their new coach. I understand they've only won a single game but that time of result has been unheard of up there in the past 6ish years.

The Fighting Hawks have a good OOC. I am sure how difficult the schedule was, but they won 9 games. ORU, Denver, and WIU seem to be having some struggles early. Yotes will be salty.
