Re: 2016-17 Road to Sioux Falls SLT

Seeds haven't meant a lot on the mens side in recent years, and may mean even less this year. Jacks have won against two of the likely top three seeds, and would have beat the Bison if we had played defense like we have recently. To me, Fort Wayne is the team that has the highest ceiling if they play up to their potential.

MBB - The Race for Eigth:
After looking at the schedules for the bottom four teams I think that three more wins (6-10) all but guarantees us a ticket. Two more wins (5-11) would be really tight and probably require a lot of tie-breaker help. It's still hard to predict which team is most likely to be stuck at the bottom but there are five teams still in the running.

Can we win three of these? WIU, ORU, IUPUI, DEN, @NDSU, @USD, @IPFW. If we play like we have in two of the past three games I like the odds.

WBB: Both IUPUI and WIU are threats for a top-2 seed because they still get SDSU and USD at home. Yesterday opened the door for a really interesting second half.

Hopefully seeds may have less influence this year. However, the past 11 tourneys have found the 1 seed or 2 seed winning the tournament. WIU and NDSU have made the championship game as 4 & 5 seeds. Oakland made the final game one year as the 3 seed. 2005 found 7 seed Oakland win the tourney. The next time a seed other than 1 or 2 took the tourney was 1993.

Denver is at Oral Roberts tonight in a rare Tuesday night game. Guess we need Denver to win but even a Denver loss would give then 5 losses and put them in the mix for a "stay at home" summit tourney

On ESPN3. The first of several interesting matchups in the first half of this week's schedule. Denver, NDSU and USD are all on the road at teams they "should" beat - but the road is long and lonely. If you feel that the Jacks have really turned a corner you probably hope ORU wins tonight. If I had to choose I'd say that I'm still in the "just get into the tourney" mode and ORU losing at home would definitely help our odds. It's always fun to watch things take shape down the stretch.

A low scoring game in Tulsa as the Golden Eagles lead 35-34 at halftime.

Is scoring 35-34 really low scoring?

It is if you are playing ORU! Pioneers up by 7 with 9 to go. There must be 4500 at Mabee Center.

Well we can definitely cross Denver off the list of teams that might get left home in March. ORU, on the other hand, is in a tough spot. They're currently alone on last place and facing four of their next five on the road.

Good point. I guess I think of what we scored during the transition and some games were lucky to break 20 in a half. Those were so low scoring games.

                            IPFW 5-4
                            Omaha 5-5
                            SDSU 4-6
                            IUPUI 4-6
                            W Ill 4-6
                            Oral 3-7

Top 4 play saturday. USD@NDSU....IPFW@Denver...Oral Roberts@SDSU....Omaha@Western. If we win Saturday, we could be one game out of 3rd place. Of course lose and we are in last place and Oral has the tie breaker. How fun is this...
