College Insider Women's Mid-Major Poll

After 3 really good wins (1 road, 2 home), the Jacks only move up a couple spots to #15. Green Bay is still rated ahead of them at #8 and GB received one 1st place vote. Central Michigan is ranked #24. There are 4 teams from the WCC in the top 7. The people who make up this poll are all coaches from the Mid-Major schools including the IUPUI coach.

There must be a lot of voters that currently have a ceiling on how high SDSU can be ranked thanks to that blowout loss to #12 FGCU. I guess that makes sense.

We have a realistic shot at another big win on Saturday against Middle Tennessee. They currently have an RPI of 17 and are getting votes in the main poll. That's a very tough road game.

It does not appear that last night's game is included yet, but the Jacks RPI is listed at 59. IUPUI and USD are 2nd and 3rd in the coference at 139 and 182. We basically have two games left to make a statement against teams with a decent ranking (UALR is 114).

Is Middle Tennessee not considered a Mid Major? I thought they had been included in those polls in the past. It seems odd they have votes in the AP Poll and none in the Mid Major.

They play in Conference USA, which is not considered a Mid-Major conference.

I thought this to be odd too, then i realized that they recently switched conferences,their old conference(Sun Belt) is one of the participating members of the mid-major poll,their new conference (conference USA) is not.Participating conferences are listed at bottom of poll.

Well UALR is still in the Sun Belt and they are getting some votes for the Women's Mid Major Poll. That would indicate that all 3 games remaining before conference play will be toughies. On the other hand, these other teams may think they have their hands full with the Jackrabbits coming to town. If the women can get 2 wins in the remaining OOC games, I think the polls would treat them accordingly. They would need 1 win to keep the status quo in the poll. The women have tested well in the OOC schedule by being above .500.

My thoughts: One win is a must if you want to stay nationally relevant at any level at all. Two wins would be a big deal and could open the door to SDSU possibly getting some "real poll" votes down the line. Of course, they'd also have to start the conference season with a bunch of wins for that to happen. It's awesome that they are still in position to allow this type of speculation.

The SDSU women are at #17 this week following 1 victory and 1 loss. The next opponent is UALR who is 4-5 and getting some votes(13) in the poll.

The SDSU women drop to #24 this week. IUPUI is getting 6 votes this week. UALR is getting 5 votes. FGCU dropped to #23 this week. It is conference week for us.

The Jackrabbit women crawl from #24 to #22 this week. The Jackrabbits and Green Bay are the only 7 loss teams in the top 25. IUPUI found 5 votes to get some attention.

The only thing that will keep the upward motion is keep winning while those ahead of you might pick up a loss. If we keep winning, then we might get to #14? I will go to the home games and see if there has been an improvement over the past couple of weeks.

the week finds the Jackrabbits hopping from #21 to #15. IUPUI has 17 votes. Green Bay, FGCU, and Central Michigan are #21,#19, and #23. Keep winning will make a difference for the attention.
