Coach at NDSU extended 5 years around $1 million. Nagy still a bargain salary.

I remember at the Summit finals seeing Saul strolling through the student area and I said "Hey Saul", he stopped and said "Hey hows it going" and shook my hand. A great guy and excellent at runner up finishes for sure.

This amounts to about 250k per year and so far, he is keeping the Bison faithful happy. Look for a buyout if their progress goes south.

Im not a math wizz by any means but isnt 200k the range? Either way still a good paycheck and more the Nagy who appears to be the more accomplished of a coach but Saul seems pretty good recruiting. I think NDSU might reconsider since they have a super senior class again that if it fails to produce they are going to question this extension.

According to the SD open gov salaries website Scott Nagy's current salary is $200,000.

My math is not good today. You are right, 200k per year.

Haha, I remember this. Probably my favorite thing about the tournament. (Other than SDSU winning.)

where have I been, I thought it was around 160-170k a year. well never mind the rest of it about being more then Nagy. do new contractss start in the summer or when do they take effect? I guess I didnt realize we had a coach in the 200k range. I thought all the big 3 were the 140-175K range. Thanks for the update.

July 1, is when most if not all of the new one year contracts begin.

Nagy still a bargain at $200K. Sure am glad he didn't get run out of town. Thumbs up to both Fred and Justin for sticking with a great coach and a better man.

                        Re: saul extended

Saul's base pay under the new contract starts at $175k in year one and climbs to at least $205k in year 5. There are also performance bonuses for conference championships, postseason games and the like, and the 4% raise per year is just the minimum; it could be higher if performance warrants it. There could also be other compensations in the contract for things like camps and media appearances, but those weren't spelled out in the reports thus far. The contract is subject to open records requests, so anyone could find out the details if they wanted to.

Our wrestling coach(Kish) is getting a 3-year contract starting at $70.3k, and our softball coach(Mueller) also got 3 years but he's starting at $76.5. All three contracts include a two-year rollover.

Thank god our women's basketball coach isn't on the contract extension list. I think the local Home Depot and Lowe's would have had a record sales day for torches and pitchforks if that had happened.
