  • Oru returning to sl

Is there any substance to a rumor heard this morning around coffee, that ORU had re-applied for membership in the SL? If not, shut this thread down.

I wouldn't surprise me if there was some truth to the rumor, but I haven't heard and can't find anything to back it up. My guess is they wouldn't even consider it until the MVC has added a team because they will at least be in the conversation for MVC expansion.

This seems to be one of the least logical things I have heard lately. ORU hated going north. That being said, since it makes no sense its probably true.

Maybe Douple had the caller id of the SL phones changed to say "Big East Conf."

From what I am hearing - you may not want to close this thread just yet! Never say never!

I continue to be all kinds of skeptical here, but on the other hand, we live in a world where UMKC thought it was a good idea to go to the WAC.

I thought it was good idea too. The Summit League is way better with Denver and without UNKC. Can you say "Win, Win"

Well, yes, no question replacing UMKC with Denver is pure win for the Summit League. But I'm still flabbergasted that allegedly intelligent people at UMKC could believe that the Great West-ern Athletic Conference (as it will be constituted in 2013-14 and going forward) would be a good move for them.

I do have to ask those who are hearing these rumors: where, and from whom, are you hearing this? Or is this another somebody-said-somebody-else-said-somebody-heard-somebody-say thing?

For what it's worth, the ORUsports.com board contains not a whiff of any ORU-to-Summit talk.

this is a joke right? if not, is very hush hush as I cant find anything anywhere other than here that mentions it.

My guess is it would be very hush-hush if true. They wouldn't make a decision until the MVC makes a decision on possible expansion. But I think its a long shot, at least right now

I just also did that (thankfully I hadn't been there for over a year) and there was no mention of it. I think that place might implode if there would be any truth to it. I had thoughts about starting a thread about it,but don't want to be held accountable for any health issues it might cause with the likes of Old Titan and The Eagleman.

Tulsa would have to put all the ambulance teams on high alert, that's for sure.

If they re-applied, then this would have been on the agenda of the President's meeting at the SL tourney. Or if the application was subsequent to the Tourney, then they would have to act on it or they may have choosen, thanks but no thanks. I dunno. Seems like Douple said something about turning down certain schools in considering new members.

I doubt the Summit League would turn down ORU if they wanted back.
