    Re: NDSU at Minnesota

Taking this game with a grain of salt. Can't cross compare games in basketball due to matchups and Wolters was out. First true game without Wolters being the playmaker made it even more difficult against Minny. All that matters is NDSU lost, everything else is irrelevant.

Actually, I thought the Bison looked pretty good for much of the game. A 13-pt margin is probably a fair measure and that's not bad because the Gophers are proving to be very good this year.

Right now, I'd put the Summit League target on their backs for a while.
As I said in another thread, take Alexander out of the game and the end result wouldn't have been much different from how the Nate-less Jacks did.

Obviously, hes our starting PG and our back up is hurt. He is a big time player for us and that's why we got him... I'm not seeing your point?

Frustrating game, we didnt play very well but the effort was there at times. Agreed you cant compare this game with the SDSU game, you had no Wolters. I think its difficult to call a clear cut favorite right now for the Summit. I think NDSU has more players playing well right now but when you get Wolters healthy he makes everyone on your team better.

        Should be a fun season.

It would be great to have the third matchup at Sioux Falls on a Tuesday night in March. There is a lot of season to make that happen.

My expectations to begin the season were to have a 2nd round upset or dang near close, and everything else would be a disappointment. Honestly, I would be shocked, shocked, shocked if NDSU made it instead and extremely disappointed.

All I see with the Jacks potentially playing NDSU is Wolters dropping 30 like it was a scrimmage.

Shocked? They are a good team. All it takes is them beating us one time. I would be disappointed, but not shocked.

To beat a team like that NDSU really needs good games out of Tray and Felt and that didn't happen. The hallmark of NDSU this year has been different players having big nights and helping the team win. This honestly might have been LA's best game of the season, before this he has been ok but not great.

I was at the Gophers game against us, most of the shots he was making were barely contested 3's. Not saying he isn't good or a great shooter, just that his shots against us weren't all that difficult.

The Williams kid did a good job of getting open shots last night plus he shot a few where he created some space. There is no lack of talent on the Gopher squad. Then there was the defense they played.

The Gophers defense and rebounding was definitely very good. They were hounding the NDSU guards (creating lots of first-half turnovers) and dominating on the boards. With just a little better shooting they could have been up 20 points by half-time. NDSU's persistent defense deserves a little credit for making them miss some of those shots but that same defensive intensity got them in foul trouble.

It would have been fun to see what the SDSU team that showed up in the first half of the Alabama game could have done against Minnesota. Where did those guys go anyway? It would be nice if they show up just in time for Montana!
