Bison’s Birkel Out For Season

FARGO, N.D. — North Dakota State has announced that Katie Birkel will miss the 2011-12 women’s basketball season due to an ACL injury to her right knee.

Birkel, a 5-8 senior, averaged 13.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game in 2010-11 in earning all-Summit League honors. The Lincoln, Neb., Southeast grad had started 87 consecutive games, and plans to return in 2012-13.

There is a thread over on Bisonville that pretty much says she will not be available for this season. One of those players that would have looked good in a Jacks uniform. I do hope she does recover.
