  • 2012 Summit Basketball Tournament Tickets

Tickets go on Sale Monday morning August 1st. Last year my wife waited at the box office and got decent seats although far from the best. 3rd row but towards the end of the court. She was told seats in the middle of the floor risers were not available. I assume the same will hold true for this year.

I'm planning to buy 15-20 all session passes depending on requests and happen to be on call all weekend so Monday is a day off for me. I'm going to be at the box office waiting in line unless someone else has a better method that might secure me better seats.

I know, if you wait, you can get single session tickets more towards the center of the court but we have a large group of people that enjoy sitting together. Don't get me wrong, the seats we had last year were more than adequate, I just want to know that I'm not missing an opportunity for better seats. I am going to call Ned today to finalize my basketball season ticket purchase and plan to ask him if he as any advice. I don't think he will.

This is a great event and I absolutely love attending. I'll take Monday and Tuesday off just so I can attend as much as possible. If you haven't made it you certainly should plan on it.

I guess i go the easy route and order them online. I usually do it when i go on my lunch break, the first day you can order them. I dont mind sitting in the balcony. I can see just as good from up there than down below. We always ended up in row 7 or 8 and mid court. Its just my wife and I so i guess that makes it easier.

I have shown up at the box office all three years and have improved my seats every year. Last year I got there 30 minutes before they were available for sale and got seats on the west side in the lower section right even with the basket. The person that was there first was sitting 6 rows in front of me. Near as I can tell the only advantage that person had over my seats was they could probably hear a lot more from the benches than I could. I'll be there at 9:30.

The person who sat six rows in front of you probably had the advanage of sitting by the Governor, a US Senator, and a congressional staffer at different times...if you like politics. EQguy was sitting right behind the reserved seats for several distinguished guests.

Re: 2012 Summit Basketball Tournament Tickets

Purchased 16 tickets, 8 each in two different rows, at the box office window in the arena. Stood in line for 30 minutes with about 75 other people. They did not allow the first people in line to select seats giving each person whatever seats they defined as "best available". Now, as we all understand, best available is defined quite a bit differently by different people.

So, my advice, don't show up and wait in line unless you are willing to be at the mercy of the computer to select you seats for you. You get no input at all except to choose between the risers or the balcony seats. It's the same as doing it online or over the phone but without any additional fees. Tickets are $99 reserved at the box office, no other fee applies. Instead, show up at 10:30 the first day they are on sale and select the seats you want and define as "best available" if this is an option for you. Better yet, show up at the box office at your convenience anytime from now until the tournament and select your seats. That is what I will be doing next year if the current system remains in place.

Regardless, I got the same seats I got last year and I'm satisfied with that. I think they could streamline the process quite a bit and increase satisfaction but I don't think there is the incentive for them do to so.

The only concern next year would be the addition of usd fans. There could well be double the people in line and online trying to get seats next year.

I have considered that but still don't expect it to have enough impact that it would prevent me from selecting what I define as better seats than the computer based selections. Of course, I could be wrong.

Those are excellent seats!! Much better than the row 2 and 3 seats 66-73 that were the "best available" first thing Monday morning. You are much better off a couple of rows higher and more towards the center of the court. If the rules don't change next year, I will do the same as you.

That's interesting, because every seating chart I can find for the Arena for basketball, shows Section U with rows 1-7. I was at the Arena on Monday for the ticket sale, and got Section U, Row 6, seats 18-20. I don't know where there is a row 8??? BTW, if anybody is interested, I wound up getting an extra seat because of a snafu by the ticket seller, and so I have one season pass available. Send me a message if you're interested.
