I'm sure women's golf isn't followed that much around here(or anywhere for that matter), but NDSU golfer Amy Anderson is co-leading(-2) the US Women's Open after a weather-shortened first day. Amy won the Summit League Tournament, Summit Golf PotY, was selected for the NCAA Regionals then Nationals as an at-large, placed 12th at Nationals(highest finish ever for Summit League), and received the NCAA Elite 88 award. She has already completely rewritten the record books at NDSU and she's only a sophomore(junior this fall). Just thought a couple of you might consider tuning into the Open the next couple of days if you knew a Summit League player was contending.

Re: US Women's Open
Cool to hear. Makes it worth watching the board and atleast its better then womens soccer world cup stuff."The most rewarding things you do in life, are often the ones that look like they cannot be done.” Arnold Palmer
Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things.

Re: US Women's Open
I will almost guarantee Amy Anderson will win at least 1 NCAA D-1 women's golf championship before she's done at NDSU. Yes, she is that good. Had a full-ride to about every school in the Nation including SDSU. It came down to believe it or not....Concordia and NDSU and Concordia ALMOST got her due to the faith-based aspect of it. Amy's a home-schooled kid who(some may argue her parents) had no intentions of ever leaving Fargo.
I'm most interested to see her "after college golf" career. Will it be the LPGA? If she doesn't make it on tour, it won't be because of lack of talent that's for sure!!
Go Jacks!!SDSU...Passionate, Relentless, Champions.

Something golfers understand and appreciate. Opposite of say, football/basketball players at large professional factory programs.

Re: US Women's Open
Day two is over(weather shortened again), and Amy hasn't even started her second round. With only 18 holes completed and most of the field well into their second rounds, Amy's alone in fourth and two strokes back from the lead. Weather permitting, she will tee off tomorrow mid-morning.

Re: US Women's Open
That's a very impressive accomplishment. She has very small chance of winning, but she still has a good chance at low amateur, which is an impressive title. It looks like she has a bright future. Good luck to her!LET'S TAKE A TRIP TO BIRDLAND! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68-6O2mJhMw

Re: US Women's Open
Her third round was her worst yet(+10) and it sounds like some bad putts rattled her. She must have relaxed as she played because her final round went much better; +3 on the front nine and even par on the back. She finished +17 overall toward the back of the field. Good experience though.

Re: US Women's Open
I'll resurrect this thread rather than starting a new one. The US Women's Amateur is staring this morning and at least two Summit golfers are there: Amy Anderson(NDSU) and Crystal Reeves(ORU). They both tee off at noon or slightly after(CST). If anyone knows of other Summit golfers at the event, give a shout and I'll add them to my update list.
