  • UN-Omaha? All signs point to....we'll see?

Commissioner Douple seen with UNO AD Trev Alberts at Summit League Tournament. I like this.....UN-O is a natural fit. Should Youngstown leap to the CAA as speculated, UN-O would be in like the proverbial Flynn with both MVC and Summit IMO. Pros: Former NCC team in a fairly large market, that would strengthen and tighten the Summit footprint. Chances are they already better at basketball than the Huskers. More old rivalries revitalized. Oh and of course it would stick in the Siouxsie's craw..... Discuss......
With fans like this who needs enemas.....

If they join the Summit would the mavbots be let back on the board?

    Those guys made me laugh.

Don't want them. Hope they stay Div II. It would hamper SDSUs recruiting in the Omaha area.

Agree with this. I'd like to see us add Arkansas-Little Rock.

Adding another DI team in our region will dilute the talent pool and hurt recruiting.

If Youngstown bolts, I'd rather see Douple go back after UND. They talked about it a little bit in the Sports Web program and it seemed like that might still be an option. But with the bad blood between the Summit and UND, not too sure anything would happen.

How about a school like Eastern Illinois? I think the Summit/MVC is a better league than the OVC.

I'm sure the Summit wants UNO because of the large Omaha market that it would attract.

Not sure why UNO would be a shoe-in for the MVFC. Youngstown leaving is fine now that we have USD. We go back to the perfect 9 schools and lose the longest travel in the conference.

I heard another rumor that the UNO AD was there representing Omaha as a city that would put in the bid for the Summit Leage Tourney.

              We'll see what happens.

This is why they were at the tournament was to possibly bid for it and no other reason.

ok.... that may be the official reason, but I doubt they'd send an AD of a school that has nothing to do with the conference unless there is more to it.

UNO wants to go D-I if they can get the money to do it.

UN-O would be wise to stay D-2.

If the tournament is held in Omaha, wouldn't UNO be the host school? So it actually does make sense to send the AD.

Which basketball fans in Omaha would be interested in attending? Which Omaha area businesses and corporations would be interesting in laying out money for sponsorships to be seen by the fans in my first question?

These are good questions, UNO has a horrible record in attracting sponsorships. Also fans are so fickle in Omaha. When they are winning they show up but one loss and their gone. Unless things have changed in Omaha since the arrival of Treb Albert, this does not look to be a good move. We will have another UMKC in the Summit when we admit them.

I am sure that Omaha's thinking is that the SDSU-USD-NDSU fans would be more than willing to travel to Omaha for the tournament. I think that with that many regional teams that the sponsorships would happen...

Sioux Falls just cannot sit back and rest on their laurels. They need to be proactive and continue to build on the past success..

Yes, they need a new arena.

In my mind, the biggest threat to Sioux Falls is Fargo if they can put the bids together.

On a similar thought, part of me wonders, if Sioux Falls does lose the tourney would that get the new arena built?
