With SUU and Centenary on their ways out of the conference, and USD not having baseball. Is it time to look at a member or two as baseball only? I'm sure the conference will be looking for a full-slate conference member but still you would only have 7 teams IF they have baseball to start off with.
USD is not going to get baseball anytime soon. Their Title IX problems are well noted and they can not add a male sport.
However both Northern Colorado and North Dakota have baseball, the Big Sky does not offer baseball. Southern Utah has said they are in talks with 3 other conferences about baseball only, but do not name the conferences.
I'm thinking out of the box but thought that if you added two of the three or all three for baseball only you could really shore up the conference for baseball.
I don't know what the downsides would be to having 9-10 baseball teams in the conference. The conference already has one sport members in swimming and diving. And could really shore up the baseball side of things.
Also if anything happened with the Big Sky could help with recruiting these schools as full-slate members in the future.
