  • Oakland Injuries & Schedule!

    Blake Cushingberry from Oakland tore his ACL in practice.

    Oakland has taken some hits early, Maynard and Cushingberry. While they aren't stars, they are upperclassmen and played solid minutes last year.

    I really interested to see how that team comes together. Kampe as usual has set them up with a brutal schedule...

    @WVU
    @Ohio
    @Purdue
    @Illinois
    vs Michigan State(At the Palace)
    @Tennessee
    @Michigan
    @Ohio State

    His loss is pretty huge for Oakland. He was slated to be the starting three-man this season. As anyone who was in Sioux Falls last March remembers, Cush sort of lifted us in the semifinal game and hopes were high for him heading into junior year.

    We are weak at that position right now, no doubt. Maynard has the potential to come back, he is just on suspension for violation of team rules or something like that. We'll see. We're just gonna have to have some young guys and undersized guys step up for us in that role. Three-guard line-ups might be more common. It definitely doesn't help with a lot of the top-tier Summit League talent concentrated at that 6'5, 6'6, 6'7 big guard/forward position.

      Cush is the guy the other team hates. Doesn't look like a player but has plenty of talent and plays hard. Cocky, arrogant and easy to dislike. Still, don't like to see injuries to young men doing what they love.

        Kampe puts schedules like that together so when they make the NCAA tourney they get a decent seed. That and I suppose the money really helps them out.

          Wasn't it Cushingberry that killed us 2 years back in the Semi-Final game? Seemed like everytime we made a push he hit a 3.
