UNO Athletic Director Trev Alberts has been on record that he would like to move the program to DI. I think UNO would be a great fit in the Summit and MVFC.

Unless something wacky happens and they end up taking UNO instead of a superior and geographically equivalent school (USD), not unlike the geniuses @ the Big Sky.

Re: UNO
Big Sky commish said (in a conference news release) yesterday that the USD agreement is negotiated, just waiting Abbott's signature. My guess is the delay is figuring out the financials and getting the BOR on board. Only a guess.Holy nutmeg!

I saw a Big Sky news release yesterday, but it didn't seem quite that concrete. Or are you reading between the lines?“I used to be with it. But then they changed what it was. Now what I’m with isn’t it, and what’s it seems scary and wierd. It’ll happen to you.” — Abe Simpson

Re: UNO
I'm not a lawyer, but since there is already a conference schedule with USD on it, wouldn't it cost quite a bit to get out of it? Could it be they are negotiating with the Big Sky to compete in the Summit for the year that they aren't eligible for post season?
UNO is unique, I think that UNO offers more to the Missouri Valley then USD. I think the Valley wants to get into recruiting Nebraska players and not losing them to Nebraska as walk-ons. Maybe adding a school Omaha would help some of that? And I think the main reason USD didn't go into the Valley was they didn't have a partner. I think the Valley would have let them in eventually if they could have convinced UND to come with them.

Interestingly, the USD paragraph was edited today (you'll have to take my word for it) to soften the language that was in it last night. I saw it first on the USD board.
“We are negotiating with South Dakota,’’ Fullerton said. “They want to be part of the Big Sky Conference and we want them to be a member. They are just awaiting a final approval process. Approval processes are different at each school.’’Holy nutmeg!

Re: UNO
At this point in time even if the MVFC sends out an invite I still want USD to accept the Big Sky membership. I think SDSU and NDSU are great members for the Summit but as far as the rest of the conference is concerned I prefer the Big Sky. I would like to see at some point USD to continue to play SDSU but there is absolutely nothing wrong with it being in non conference. I think it would add a great element to both schools non conference schedules. The Dakota 4 could get together and have the Battle of the Summit vs the Big Sky. The men and women could all play as I feel it could be a nice event to have. I think SDSU and USD should have a home and neutral in mens and womens basketball every year. One year the Jacks could host and the second game could be played at the Battle of the Summit/Sky challenge. The next year USD could host and the other game would be at the challenge. It could be a nice twist.
USD has gone too far in the process IMO to turn back now. They have sent signals out to UND and the Big Sky that it's all but a done deal. I think if USD changes course it makes them looky very wishy-washy.How Bout Them Yotes

Re: UNO
USD is gone. Enjoy that travel budget and trying to get ppl to care about 9pm gametimes that won't even be in the paper the next day.
No offense Coyote Fan, but you are the only guy I have seen (USD fan or not) that doesn't view the move to the Big Sky a horrible idea.
You have no problem being in a conference w/ the majority of schools being on the far west coast?
