It was news that North Dakota State football coach Craig Bohl did not want to hear.
Patty Viverito, commissioner of the Missouri Valley Football Conference, said earlier this week that probably only two league teams are playoff-bound.
"Unfortunately, we've played our way out of it," Viverito told the Fargo (N.D.) Forum newspaper. "We've made it too easy on the committee."
Northern Iowa, which has clinched a share of the title and is done with a 7-1 league record, and Southern Illinois, 6-1, are the likely Valley playoff teams.
Bohl seemed confident following last week's victory at Missouri State that his team, with a possible 7-4 final overall record, could earn an at-large selection to the FCS playoffs.

The selection of at-large is down to 3 out of 6 candidates, and those are are all playing head-to-head games out east. BTW, winning these games don't necessarily get into the play-offs.
Liberty @ Elon - A loss by Elon could knock them out. Liberty may get a "sympathy" invite (best of the Big South), but lost to a 2nd yr transitional Presbyterian, so some real concern about any quality wins.
Richmond @ William & Mary - Richmond was #1, for a week, then they lost to Villanova, and JMU in two close games (think McNeese/SIU for Jacks). W&M has been quietly sailing along notching W after W, until finishing with 'Nova, JMU & Richmond. Already lost to 'Nova & JMU.
