I was stumbling around the internet this evening and decided to take a quick trip north to Bisonville to see what was being discussed. There was a discussion on the NDSU board on the subject of when NDSU and USD first attained a better-than .500 football season record. Hammersmith, a thoughtful and intelligent NDSU fan whose posts are always supported by facts (some posters are thinking "now, that's an idea!"), did some research, added in SDSU and UND, and provided the following:
First individual conference season above .500:
SDSU - 2008(1st season - 6-2)
NDSU - 2011(4th season - 7-1)
USD - 2021(10th season - 5-3)
First season with cumulative conference wins above .500:
SDSU - 2008(1st season - 6-2)
NDSU - 2011(4th season - 17-13)
USD - never(currently at 26-50)
Of course, in 14 years, NDSU has only had one season below .500 as well. SDSU is the same.
So NDSU and SDSU each have only one season(out of 14) below .500, and USD has only one season(out of 10) above .500. UND currently has one of each(out of 2). Wonder which way they will trend from here on?
