Bad odor from NDSU Administration

Mike McFeeley of In Forum Communications (Fargo Forum and Grand Forks Herald) wrote a blog which is very critical of recent NDSU Athletic Dept policy pronouncements about media coverage of Bison Athletics. McFeely's blog is very sarcastic. He has his detractors and they won't warm up to him over this opinion piece.

Does he have a point? I haven't read the new media policies so I have no opinion. He is known for not giving automatic approval of everything about Bison athletics.

Honestly, most of the bison fans reactions I have seen online have been on the same side of the matter as McFeeley. NDSU may have overstepped their reach a bit on this one.

That's funny stuff by McFeeley. Sounds like NDSU administrators might be getting a little too big for their britches. Every one wants to control the media, even if it's beaten and weak.

Gee, I wonder if these same restrictions would then apply to, oh I don't know say, ESPN? I guess no more college gameday on campus and no interviews if they show up in town.

It will be interesting if this statement holds true if Gameday gives them a call.

When asked if a non-rights media outlet would be granted permission to do some of these things by special request, Jorgenson said: "It would probably be denied."

McFeeley was on Saturday Morning Sportstalk with Ruesse on 1500 ESPN in the twin cities as well. Ruesse finds it humorous as well and has pledged to cheer against the mighty Bison. You can't make this stuff up.

McFeeley stated that he heard Gameday is planning to return. Bohl and the Bison had a policy against press at practice and they made an exception for ESPN before. I suspect they will do the same again.

fyi, this is for media in the FM market only, national media is different AKA ESPN
