At least one of the Kansas City TV stations has gone into telethon mode for tonight. Reports are that the Chiefs will be loading trucks with whatever people bring to the Arrowhead Stadium parking lot tomorrow (they especially want basics like blankets and bottled water.)

Death toll to 116 now. It will go higher as the recovery efforts progress.

I just heard on the local news that one of the local Kansas City fire departments actually got told by the Joplin authorities that they didn't have anything for them to do right now--there's been so many rescue resources converging on the area. They just showed another story of a KC-area Marine reservist who just put on his BDU's and headed down there to see what he could do to help.
