I really don't see what the big deal is:

Install the shielded lights and stop acting like we're the only living creatures on the planet.

If I were to be made at anyone, it would be the people who were *told* to install shielded lights and *didn't*. Ignoring the feds is going to have consequences. Just ask Denzel.

Well, honestly, this is a *real* issue, not a made up one, and involves the federal government and federal legislation, not a pressure group trying to get publicity.

Seriously, this should never have been a problem. The Feds say, "put shields over your lights" (which is something that is routinely done around observatories), and the locals do what? Nothing? For five years? What were they expecting? That the feds would just leave them alone because they're what? 6 time zones and 6,000 miles from Washington?

This has zero similarity to Spearfish. They are talking about extinction of entire species of a "real" bird. Seriously, the high school has had 5 years to install shielded lights. If football is so precious, raise the funding and install the lights. Perhaps they could sell a bunch of "Buck the Firds" t-shirts to raise funds.
