I was just listening to KFAN and they said parts of southern MN have received 10 inches of rain in 24 hours and it's still pouring there! My God, that is a lot of water. They said that the hardest hit areas are sand bagging heavily and everything is closing down. Yikes!
So where does Brookings High play this week...is CAS going to be spared?
They host Brandon Valley. It's homecoming. Good thing we are on the road again next week at UNI to give the turf a little time to heal. The Bobcats are on the road for the next two weeks following this week. Their last home game for the season is 10/15 vs. Watertown unless they host a playoff game (not likely).

Holy Smoke the field is going to take an absolute pounding.
I've never seen the ground so mushy.

What about up north? Have you guys been getting as much rain as down here?

A lady came into my Spanish class this morning to check and see if anyone lived by Sexauer Park because they were evacuating homes in the area.
Came in On US 14 from the west. Its unbelievable. The trailer park near Sexauer Park is under water. Most of the water is coming from Six mile creek which accepts the run off from Hendricks Minnesota. Hendricks got five inches of rain, so it's compounding the existing run off problems on the west edge of Brookings. I grew up on Third Ave just little north of 8th street, and to the north there was often water in the spring. Nothing in the past that I recall matches the current flood situation.
Brookings has received more than 25" of rain this summer. Normal is 13-15". The previous record was about 18". The ground has been saturated for most of the summer, so ANY rain becomes a flood.
